plunge and all of these wonderful things that you're doing now and I know that that you're doing now and I know that you know some of your journey maybe has you know some of your journey maybe has been a little bit difficult along the been a little bit difficult along the way too oh totally I way too oh totally I mean mean it every every road well travel has to it every every road well travel has to have some difficulties you know H and have some difficulties you know H and I'm I really embrace the aspect of life I'm I really embrace the aspect of life that hey life is meant to have some that hey life is meant to have some complications and how we navigate those complications and how we navigate those Waters is always what makes us stronger Waters is always what makes us stronger and gets us to a better a better future and gets us to a better a better future um but yeah I I kid you guys not I'm I um but yeah I I kid you guys not I'm I feel extremely lucky that I am where I feel extremely lucky that I am where I am now and I have the knowledge that I am now and I have the knowledge that I been able to gain through just been able to gain through just experiencing life the way that I have experiencing life the way that I have been able to experience life and so with been able to experience life and so with that being said I I would like to share that being said I I would like to share when I'm kind of sharing my story of how when I'm kind of sharing my story of how did I became the SAA puy or how did I did I became the SAA puy or how did I started this this business you know or started this this business you know or or coaching people with the stuff that I or coaching people with the stuff that I do now it all happened um by I'm I'm I'm do now it all happened um by I'm I'm I'm a guy from Guatemala from Central a guy from Guatemala from Central America that moved to the US but started America that moved to the US but started Living in Minnesota in 2012 um and it Living in Minnesota in 2012 um and it was my hate relationship with the winter was my hate relationship with the winter that led me to discover the power there that led me to discover the power there is in cold is in cold water um and that really accelerated water um and that really accelerated like the process of me diving really like the process of me diving really deep into all the stuff that I know deep into all the stuff that I know about that industry or that that um um about that industry or that that um um that aspect of of the wellness industry that aspect of of the wellness industry these days like a lot of people are these days like a lot of people are jumping in cold water right now you know jumping in cold water right now you know and I'm trying to learn more the and I'm trying to learn more the benefits of that um but yeah it was benefits of that um but yeah it was literally the winter in Minnesota was literally the winter in Minnesota was destroyed me I couldn't handle it the destroyed me I couldn't handle it the first the first two Winters that I got first the first two Winters that I got to spin in Minnesota were very to spin in Minnesota were very hard um and yeah I was not only in a
hard um and yeah I was not only in a negative mindset going into them like it negative mindset going into them like it just got it got old really quick like just got it got old really quick like after my first went I'm like this is after my first went I'm like this is horrible I got sick like three different horrible I got sick like three different times I was putting so many layers every times I was putting so many layers every day so my the timing of getting from one day so my the timing of getting from one place to another all of a sudden was place to another all of a sudden was longer and I never had to wear layers longer and I never had to wear layers before in my life you know and so there before in my life you know and so there was a lot of those little things but the was a lot of those little things but the biggest piece of the pie was like like biggest piece of the pie was like like the aspect of getting sick I'm feeling the aspect of getting sick I'm feeling like NE negative almost like I feel like like NE negative almost like I feel like I was in um like in a almost I was in um like in a almost depressed uh from from the winter and I depressed uh from from the winter and I I just I knew I needed to fix that uh my I just I knew I needed to fix that uh my background is in Endurance Sports I grew background is in Endurance Sports I grew up being a triathlete um and uh being a up being a triathlete um and uh being a competitive athlete through most of my competitive athlete through most of my life that led me to become a personal life that led me to become a personal trainer I've been helping people with trainer I've been helping people with their health journey and and the fact their health journey and and the fact that I was being so affected by by the that I was being so affected by by the weather and the winter here I was like I weather and the winter here I was like I need to figure this out you know I need need to figure this out you know I need to figure what can I do to learn to to figure what can I do to learn to tango with the winter in Minnesota if tango with the winter in Minnesota if I'm going to plan to stay here you know I'm going to plan to stay here you know and I was definitely planning to stay and I was definitely planning to stay here because my I have um I have two here because my I have um I have two kids with my ex-wife and H they their kids with my ex-wife and H they their the my ex-wife is from Minnesota I ended the my ex-wife is from Minnesota I ended up marrying another girl from Minnesota up marrying another girl from Minnesota now and I have uh another set of kids uh now and I have uh another set of kids uh but I was like I'm not going anywhere but I was like I'm not going anywhere like I'm staying here you know and I like I'm staying here you know and I need to learn how to deal with the need to learn how to deal with the winter um so yeah two Winters after that winter um so yeah two Winters after that the guy from Guatemala discover the the guy from Guatemala discover the power of cold water so I started power of cold water so I started literally literally very um out of Cur curiosity I started very um out of Cur curiosity I started doing research on okay ways to get more doing research on okay ways to get more resilient about the winter and I came
resilient about the winter and I came across an article uh they were talking across an article uh they were talking about Wim Hof in this article and how about Wim Hof in this article and how cold water was an a fix a very easy cold water was an a fix a very easy solution for not getting sick so like I solution for not getting sick so like I never heard of that but I do have access never heard of that but I do have access to cold water at home so I'm I'm going to cold water at home so I'm I'm going to start taking cold showers you know so to start taking cold showers you know so literally I started taking cold showers literally I started taking cold showers almost 10 years ago now and I can knock almost 10 years ago now and I can knock on wood I I haven't been sick literally on wood I I haven't been sick literally you know I'll get like a little rundown you know I'll get like a little rundown here and there of oh I feel like I'm here and there of oh I feel like I'm getting something but it never kicks in getting something but it never kicks in really and I can I can say out loud that really and I can I can say out loud that I I have not been seeking almost 10 I I have not been seeking almost 10 years you know and I give all of the years you know and I give all of the credit to to the cold water um but yeah credit to to the cold water um but yeah that's kind of like the story The the that's kind of like the story The the beginning of the story for me um it all beginning of the story for me um it all Happ happened because I started to Happ happened because I started to expose myself to cold water and it expose myself to cold water and it started with cold showers um every started with cold showers um every winter that I went into um I started winter that I went into um I started just going a little deeper with the cold just going a little deeper with the cold um my second winter I started just um my second winter I started just wearing less layers and actually trying wearing less layers and actually trying to simplify my life a little more I was to simplify my life a little more I was like you know what I'm I'm not going to like you know what I'm I'm not going to die on a winter day walking from my die on a winter day walking from my house to the car uh in a t-shirt you house to the car uh in a t-shirt you know so so that was like a big win for know so so that was like a big win for me just starting to simplify my life and me just starting to simplify my life and exposing myself to more and more cold exposing myself to more and more cold outside and learning the reward that outside and learning the reward that happened from getting more cold exposure happened from getting more cold exposure and also feeling this kind of level of and also feeling this kind of level of happiness that you experience every time happiness that you experience every time like that you go out outside of your like that you go out outside of your comfort zone and then you go back into a comfort zone and then you go back into a comfort zone you you kind of experience comfort zone you you kind of experience some very high level of Joy so I was some very high level of Joy so I was like Wow life is so simple and we make like Wow life is so simple and we make it so complicated and I very organically it so complicated and I very organically I started just kind of diving into I started just kind of diving into trying all of these things related with
trying all of these things related with the Cod and I was a very I was like the the Cod and I was a very I was like the best guinea pig that I had you know best guinea pig that I had you know because I was experiencing all of these because I was experiencing all of these things and and and I was able to start things and and and I was able to start slowly articulating them to some people slowly articulating them to some people and I started noticing the same kind of and I started noticing the same kind of Effects by sharing this type of stuff Effects by sharing this type of stuff with other people you know um but yeah with other people you know um but yeah literally every winter that has gone by literally every winter that has gone by in the last 10 years for me I've been in the last 10 years for me I've been able to tap into going a little deeper able to tap into going a little deeper with understanding the cold water and with understanding the cold water and that cold water is what led me to that cold water is what led me to discover SAS breath work and all the discover SAS breath work and all the stuff that I do now but it that's stuff that I do now but it that's basically the the beginning of it it basically the the beginning of it it started from started from there wow I mean you're you were just there wow I mean you're you were just taking advantage of the natural taking advantage of the natural surroundings in a Minnesota winter yeah surroundings in a Minnesota winter yeah yeah you didn't even have to do anything yeah you didn't even have to do anything right well the rest they bundling all up right well the rest they bundling all up you're just like going out there on your you're just like going out there on your T-shirt um T-shirt um yeah I think for because I I I didn't I yeah I think for because I I I didn't I never grew up having never grew up having winter part of me wonders when you grow winter part of me wonders when you grow up with something and you just know that up with something and you just know that you're going to have this seasonal you're going to have this seasonal effect you kind of get used to it I effect you kind of get used to it I believe for me it was a very like boom believe for me it was a very like boom drastic change I don't like this I need drastic change I don't like this I need to fix this somehow and then I to fix this somehow and then I experienced my first winter of just experienced my first winter of just doing the cold showers and I noticed doing the cold showers and I noticed like wow I'm back I'm back there maybe like wow I'm back I'm back there maybe even actually better now I want more of even actually better now I want more of that you know um so maybe I was maybe a that you know um so maybe I was maybe a little lucky that I had this very little lucky that I had this very different approach to experiencing a different approach to experiencing a winter in Minnesota like that you know winter in Minnesota like that you know well and it's interesting that you just well and it's interesting that you just heard of like the Wim Hoff Theory or heard of like the Wim Hoff Theory or mthod or whatever and then you're just mthod or whatever and then you're just like oh I'm going to try that and and it like oh I'm going to try that and and it like really propelled you into this like really propelled you into this whole thing how long were your cold whole thing how long were your cold showers lasting in the beginning like showers lasting in the beginning like I've tried a cold shower and it's I I I've tried a cold shower and it's I I not big
not big fan yeah it was h i kind of dove in head fan yeah it was h i kind of dove in head first like I I actually I at the first like I I actually I at the beginning I I was not even doing like a beginning I I was not even doing like a regular hot shower uh I was making it regular hot shower uh I was making it super hard on me I was like I would just super hard on me I was like I would just open the cold water and I would jump in open the cold water and I would jump in and I would try to take my regular and I would try to take my regular shower in cold water so I mean right at shower in cold water so I mean right at the beginning I was doing probably like the beginning I was doing probably like two three minutes in the cold you know two three minutes in the cold you know and those were two three minutes of and those were two three minutes of taking a very cold quick shower because taking a very cold quick shower because that was it for me and I'm like I'm I'm that was it for me and I'm like I'm I'm out of here now you know but then I out of here now you know but then I started changing things up I'm like hold started changing things up I'm like hold on why don't you just clean yourself and on why don't you just clean yourself and do a regular hot shower like normal do a regular hot shower like normal people do and then end in cold and I people do and then end in cold and I even play with the contrast or doing a even play with the contrast or doing a little bit of hot a little bit of cold little bit of hot a little bit of cold that I was like I'm going to go through that I was like I'm going to go through a Chase I'm going to do a regular hot a Chase I'm going to do a regular hot shower and I'm I'm going to end in cold shower and I'm I'm going to end in cold and I really lik it so my average I say and I really lik it so my average I say is always anywhere from 2 to four maybe is always anywhere from 2 to four maybe five minutes of of cold if I'm doing a five minutes of of cold if I'm doing a cold uh if I'm just going into a cold cold uh if I'm just going into a cold shower these days now I also have access shower these days now I also have access to jumping in a cold plunge you know so to jumping in a cold plunge you know so um but if it's a cold shower like yeah um but if it's a cold shower like yeah anywhere from two to four five minutes anywhere from two to four five minutes uh that's that's a very typical time for uh that's that's a very typical time for me so well okay so I just started doing me so well okay so I just started doing this about 10 days ago I don't know what this about 10 days ago I don't know what inspired me I I think it was you really inspired me I I think it was you really and my sister started doing this too and and my sister started doing this too and I'm not doing a hot shower I am just I'm not doing a hot shower I am just going in cold shower I mean how do you going in cold shower I mean how do you shave your legs well we can go seriously shave your legs well we can go seriously it doesn't I know I know I've actually I it doesn't I know I know I've actually I think about that think about that every well we'll leave that for another every well we'll leave that for another conversation Marne because but that's conversation Marne because but that's like a good logistical question like how like a good logistical question like how your life you have to have War warm your life you have to have War warm water for that you have to have warm water for that you have to have warm water I don't have to shave my legs water I don't have to shave my legs every day anyway every day anyway so I do go in the cold shower and I so I do go in the cold shower and I noticed that because at first I thought
noticed that because at first I thought this was all crazy honestly you know this was all crazy honestly you know even I've done cold punches a couple even I've done cold punches a couple times and we'll talk about that but I times and we'll talk about that but I still I do not like cold I do not like still I do not like cold I do not like cold and I'm like I'm just I don't know cold and I'm like I'm just I don't know what it was I was just motivated to do what it was I was just motivated to do it and I started breathing because I it and I started breathing because I remember when we were all together you remember when we were all together you really helped us take these breaths and really helped us take these breaths and so I noticed if I started breathing so I noticed if I started breathing before I got into the shower a little before I got into the shower a little bit and then throughout it made a huge bit and then throughout it made a huge difference to the point that the other difference to the point that the other day I literally only had probably three day I literally only had probably three or four minutes cuz like my kids I had or four minutes cuz like my kids I had to do something with them and I was kind to do something with them and I was kind of bummed that I had to get out of the of bummed that I had to get out of the shower and it was cold I mean it's I shower and it was cold I mean it's I can't have it be too cold because then can't have it be too cold because then the water pressure isn't quite enough the water pressure isn't quite enough right now it's cold and it feels really right now it's cold and it feels really good yeah and and the because we're good yeah and and the because we're coming from the summer right now we're coming from the summer right now we're still experiencing that the top water is still experiencing that the top water is not that cold yet you know uh telling me not that cold yet you know uh telling me it's going to be really cold in like it's going to be really cold in like this oh yeah just wait until we get to this oh yeah just wait until we get to November December I mean once we in November December I mean once we in January and February the water is so so January and February the water is so so cold but then you you keep the the the cold but then you you keep the the the water temperature stays really cold water temperature stays really cold until like June you know and then starts until like June you know and then starts to warm up a little more and it's almost to warm up a little more and it's almost catching up like from a couple of months catching up like from a couple of months behind almost is is interesting how it behind almost is is interesting how it works the top water but yeah it's going works the top water but yeah it's going to get colder okay well that's good that to get colder okay well that's good that I'm starting it now my body will have I'm starting it now my body will have some adjustment before it gets too cold some adjustment before it gets too cold well maybe we should talk about like well maybe we should talk about like some of the benefits of cold plunge some of the benefits of cold plunge because here we are just chatting about because here we are just chatting about it but let's let our listeners know what it but let's let our listeners know what those actual benefits are and I'm also those actual benefits are and I'm also curious you know I've heard from a curious you know I've heard from a certain natural path that Stephanie and certain natural path that Stephanie and I have studied under that cold plunge I have studied under that cold plunge really isn't for everyone and and I bet really isn't for everyone and and I bet you would disagree with that but I'm you would disagree with that but I'm curious what your thoughts curious what your thoughts are yeah I I mean I have a I'm still are yeah I I mean I have a I'm still processing all of the benefits uh of the processing all of the benefits uh of the C water to be honest um and I am no
C water to be honest um and I am no expert I am no doctor I'm not a expert I am no doctor I'm not a scientist I am a very good guinea pig scientist I am a very good guinea pig that's who I am you know um so scientist that's who I am you know um so scientist on yourself you do your own science on on yourself you do your own science on yourself all of the time and I put yourself all of the time and I put thousands of people in cold water and so thousands of people in cold water and so I seen a lot of different experiments I seen a lot of different experiments and I'm telling you in my opinion cold and I'm telling you in my opinion cold water is for water is for everyone um and this this year or everyone um and this this year or actually as we're getting into this next actually as we're getting into this next winter I am really I I have never been winter I am really I I have never been this excited before as I am this winter this excited before as I am this winter I'm feeling like I'm GNA dive so much I'm feeling like I'm GNA dive so much deeper into the cold water this winter deeper into the cold water this winter and I'm so excited to go learn more and and I'm so excited to go learn more and every year I'm learning something new every year I'm learning something new you know you know but this year in particular this is the but this year in particular this is the first time that I am actually thinking first time that I am actually thinking or realizing U and I have also listen or realizing U and I have also listen from other people that are very from other people that are very knowledgeable in this um in the effects knowledgeable in this um in the effects of the cold water people are starting to of the cold water people are starting to call it is call it is medicine it's it's it's like yeah you medicine it's it's it's like yeah you get a lot of the benefits of back in the get a lot of the benefits of back in the day a lot of people were athletes were day a lot of people were athletes were jumping in cold water for basically jumping in cold water for basically attacking inflammation you know uh okay attacking inflammation you know uh okay I work out my muscles my joints are sore I work out my muscles my joints are sore this is going to help inflammation a this is going to help inflammation a bring more blood flow to the areas you bring more blood flow to the areas you get to recover your muscles that you're get to recover your muscles that you're working really hard um but then people working really hard um but then people started discovering all of the other started discovering all of the other side effects too like okay I'm not side effects too like okay I'm not getting sick uh I have more energy I getting sick uh I have more energy I have more mental Clarity is affecting me have more mental Clarity is affecting me in a very positive way depending on what in a very positive way depending on what time of the day I'm doing it there's time of the day I'm doing it there's there's different things that I can do there's different things that I can do with the cold water that are going to with the cold water that are going to allow me to go into a specific area of allow me to go into a specific area of my life or of my day by dialing myself my life or of my day by dialing myself there um and I've been every year I've
there um and I've been every year I've been like when I started doing C plunges been like when I started doing C plunges in the lake um I started like with the in the lake um I started like with the water up to here and my hands are out water up to here and my hands are out and I'm like get me out of here and I'm and I'm like get me out of here and I'm not even like understanding that the not even like understanding that the Shivers are good I don't need to be Shivers are good I don't need to be fighting with them my hands getting very fighting with them my hands getting very cold and very cold and very achy slowly every year I like I kind of achy slowly every year I like I kind of went from being here and here and even went from being here and here and even wearing neoprene gloves neoprene booties wearing neoprene gloves neoprene booties uh to getting rid of that I started uh to getting rid of that I started going deeper and deeper and deeper and I going deeper and deeper and deeper and I started realizing that I can when I get started realizing that I can when I get in that water I can actually let go of in that water I can actually let go of everything you know which is the stuff everything you know which is the stuff that I'm telling you that's kind of my that I'm telling you that's kind of my new approach it's like all starting to new approach it's like all starting to really click in my mind like the the really click in my mind like the the cold water will basically squeeze cold water will basically squeeze whatever might be going out in your life whatever might be going out in your life if you're under stress it's going to if you're under stress it's going to take it out if you're feeling H areas of take it out if you're feeling H areas of your body that you're in constant Pate your body that you're in constant Pate is going to mute that when you're in it is going to mute that when you're in it so it gives you this almost like high so it gives you this almost like high level of meditation that just happens so level of meditation that just happens so quick quick but if you learn to breathe and if you but if you learn to breathe and if you learn to let go and be and let learn to let go and be and let go the water will teach you so go the water will teach you so much and I remember when we came and much and I remember when we came and tried the cold plunge I shared this tried the cold plunge I shared this earlier but I was I was driving down earlier but I was I was driving down there thinking I'm not doing this I'll there thinking I'm not doing this I'll do the sauna I'm not doing the cold do the sauna I'm not doing the cold plunge I don't like the cold so you know plunge I don't like the cold so you know when it was our turn to go I wanted to when it was our turn to go I wanted to go first because I knew if I didn't I go first because I knew if I didn't I probably wouldn't go and that's so true probably wouldn't go and that's so true like I remember getting into the tub you like I remember getting into the tub you were right there next to me helping me were right there next to me helping me breathe and I think that um I was so
breathe and I think that um I was so focused on breathing and listening to focused on breathing and listening to you and Counting and breathing and you and Counting and breathing and Counting and breathing that I literally Counting and breathing that I literally did not think about one other thing did not think about one other thing except breathing and Counting and it except breathing and Counting and it just like forces you into the moment and just like forces you into the moment and everything else did just Fall everything else did just Fall Away Bernie you did it longer than you Away Bernie you did it longer than you thought like you had a goal in mind and thought like you had a goal in mind and you went like two minutes more right you went like two minutes more right because he tricked me yeah you did you because he tricked me yeah you did you did so amazing I was very impressed that did so amazing I was very impressed that it was your first time you know um but it was your first time you know um but you were you you you did so good about you were you you you did so good about following your breath and letting go following your breath and letting go relaxing and I think you you relaxing and I think you you Incorporated some of the important Incorporated some of the important components right away and you got to you components right away and you got to you got the benefits of like it was a longer got the benefits of like it was a longer session and you felt so good session and you felt so good but at the same time like talking of but at the same time like talking of that is like think how many that is like think how many times we need to go do something that we times we need to go do something that we don't like to don't like to do it's not to the extent of I don't do it's not to the extent of I don't want to jump in cold water and I K you want to jump in cold water and I K you not every time I think that I'm about to not every time I think that I'm about to go jump in the cold water I get that go jump in the cold water I get that little nervous little nervous anxious ER excitement or nerves it never anxious ER excitement or nerves it never goes goes away um but now I know how good it is to away um but now I know how good it is to me for me to go do something that I me for me to go do something that I don't want to do that I can actually don't want to do that I can actually meditate once a minute and then let go meditate once a minute and then let go of everything and then rip the benefits of everything and then rip the benefits in so many different areas of my life um in so many different areas of my life um and I back to kind of what I was telling and I back to kind of what I was telling you both earlier um going into this you both earlier um going into this winter I want to experience more of that winter I want to experience more of that um at the beginning stages when I start um at the beginning stages when I start jumping on Frozen legs or doing covs jumping on Frozen legs or doing covs with eyes um I always had like a Target with eyes um I always had like a Target okay I need to do five minutes I mean we okay I need to do five minutes I mean we don't we did a lot of very long seats on don't we did a lot of very long seats on the cover it was almost like a the cover it was almost like a competition you know like how long can I competition you know like how long can I go and yeah it always I was always
go and yeah it always I was always measuring it like that and then then I measuring it like that and then then I started instead of counting time I started instead of counting time I started counting my started counting my breaths I this last summer like u a breaths I this last summer like u a summer not this past summer two summers summer not this past summer two summers ago I started going under the water with ago I started going under the water with the bamboo with the puppy the bamboo with the puppy stick um and I started just feeling this stick um and I started just feeling this experience of approaching life with your experience of approaching life with your breath with your breath Focus all of the breath with your breath Focus all of the time I was like this is incredible so time I was like this is incredible so now I'm going more now I'm going more into how much deeper can I go to connect into how much deeper can I go to connect with me when I'm in that cold water and with me when I'm in that cold water and every time is something something every time is something something magical happens if you let go there you magical happens if you let go there you know and and and that's the stuff that know and and and that's the stuff that I'm very intrigued about learning uh I'm very intrigued about learning uh this winter and I'm going to be doing a this winter and I'm going to be doing a lot of cold sessions uh during the lot of cold sessions uh during the winter and I cannot I I just kind of winter and I cannot I I just kind of wait for those legs to freeze and to wait for those legs to freeze and to start doing it outside in the in the in start doing it outside in the in the in the winter which I really like that well the winter which I really like that well maybe it'll take Stephanie and I oh I maybe it'll take Stephanie and I oh I was just gonna say to the lake because was just gonna say to the lake because that we have talked about that for like that we have talked about that for like two years now oh we're gonna jump in a two years now oh we're gonna jump in a lake and do that in the winter but like lake and do that in the winter but like it kind of scares me so we're GNA doing it kind of scares me so we're GNA doing it and you're keeping you're keeping us it and you're keeping you're keeping us accountable yes physical benefits that accountable yes physical benefits that we talked about but there's obviously we talked about but there's obviously this emotional mental spiritual this emotional mental spiritual component which you touched on but I've component which you touched on but I've heard and maybe you can talk about this heard and maybe you can talk about this like the mental benefits from like a like the mental benefits from like a mood standpoint like helping I mean mood standpoint like helping I mean literally like boosting your mood and literally like boosting your mood and your energy which I think is something your energy which I think is something that our listeners could really you know that our listeners could really you know would be very interested would be very interested in yeah it definitely uh has that effect in yeah it definitely uh has that effect of boosting your energy so if you're of boosting your energy so if you're kind of on a negative uh mindset or if kind of on a negative uh mindset or if you're lethargic of you feel tired or you're lethargic of you feel tired or low low energy uh the water will give you a very energy uh the water will give you a very high dose of endorphins you know you're high dose of endorphins you know you're going to feel very very alive so it going to feel very very alive so it maximizes that sensation and then
maximizes that sensation and then therefore you're you have more energy therefore you're you have more energy you're you're happy happier um and and you're you're happy happier um and and it also puts you kind of in place again it also puts you kind of in place again like like whenever you're in that cold like like whenever you're in that cold water you cannot be thinking of many water you cannot be thinking of many things your body is only thinking of things your body is only thinking of okay I need to if you're doing it okay I need to if you're doing it correctly you're thinking of correctly you're thinking of breathing um and if you're doing it in breathing um and if you're doing it in correctly you're thinking of okay I'm correctly you're thinking of okay I'm shivering how much time do I have and shivering how much time do I have and you're you still under stress um but you're you still under stress um but yeah the the benefits when you do it yeah the the benefits when you do it correctly is like you're you're like a correctly is like you're you're like a supercharged human being after that you supercharged human being after that you know and and I can we can attest to that know and and I can we can attest to that because that both of you can attest to because that both of you can attest to that so so what is the minimum like a that so so what is the minimum like a person needs to be in the cold to really person needs to be in the cold to really get some of those benefits there there's get some of those benefits there there's some research some studies um I might be some research some studies um I might be wrong on what I'm going to say but I I wrong on what I'm going to say but I I believe you you you start reaping the believe you you you start reaping the benefits two minutes into the water okay benefits two minutes into the water okay um but to me there's different levels to um but to me there's different levels to like to me the the the the deeper I get like to me the the the the deeper I get that water to I mean if it can touch the that water to I mean if it can touch the back of uh the low part of my skull even back of uh the low part of my skull even getting something like back in the day getting something like back in the day before I got the the puy stick I was I before I got the the puy stick I was I was submerging myself up to here you was submerging myself up to here you know and I feel like it activates your know and I feel like it activates your brain so much H you have so many nerves brain so much H you have so many nerves that travel to your neck you know it's that travel to your neck you know it's the big Highway for your nervous system the big Highway for your nervous system so you're kind of doing a big reset so you're kind of doing a big reset there um and what about the temperature there um and what about the temperature Louise like what I think and like Louise like what I think and like obviously the the colder the water the obviously the the colder the water the faster you start getting the the effects faster you start getting the the effects of it uh but I I think you you can get of it uh but I I think you you can get benefits on on water that is even like benefits on on water that is even like below 60 degrees you know so it doesn't
below 60 degrees you know so it doesn't need to be 40 degrees or um in the mid need to be 40 degrees or um in the mid 30s or lower 30s um I think so it's it's 30s or lower 30s um I think so it's it's not like the colder the better I mean to not like the colder the better I mean to me once you get to to me once you get to me once you get to to me once you get to a very good threshold for for me is like a very good threshold for for me is like any anything below like 45 degrees to 32 any anything below like 45 degrees to 32 degrees you're you're in very cold water degrees you're you're in very cold water the to me the colder the colder the the to me the colder the colder the water the more you're going to be water the more you're going to be working your brain to relax more you working your brain to relax more you know what I mean yes um but yeah so I know what I mean yes um but yeah so I think the the once you're below like in think the the once you're below like in the below 45 range you're probably get the below 45 range you're probably get reaping the benefits pretty quickly reaping the benefits pretty quickly versus a little warmer temperature it versus a little warmer temperature it probably you you probably need to sit a probably you you probably need to sit a little longer there but again I'm not a little longer there but again I'm not a scientist I go kind of by feeling you scientist I go kind of by feeling you know um and to me every time every time know um and to me every time every time I go at least two minutes under the I go at least two minutes under the water uh uh sorry like getting fully water uh uh sorry like getting fully submerge in in water that is below 45 submerge in in water that is below 45 minutes I feel minutes I feel incredible all right can we pivot just a incredible all right can we pivot just a little bit I feel like we could go on little bit I feel like we could go on and on about this but you mentioned your and on about this but you mentioned your poppy stick and breath work and I know poppy stick and breath work and I know you have your new saana strong facility you have your new saana strong facility that's it'll be open by the time this that's it'll be open by the time this episode drops for sure and it's like episode drops for sure and it's like workout and sauna and cold plunge but workout and sauna and cold plunge but you're really into the breath work and you're really into the breath work and breathing so can you talk a little bit breathing so can you talk a little bit about the your poppy stick which I know about the your poppy stick which I know people can buy on your website and the people can buy on your website and the benefits of that and really just the benefits of that and really just the benefits of using more of like the benefits of using more of like the primary versus secondary breathing primary versus secondary breathing muscle muscles and I know a lot of muscle muscles and I know a lot of people been into mouth taping at night people been into mouth taping at night but a lot of people aren't doing that but a lot of people aren't doing that for their for their workouts yeah yeah um I mean it it uh it workouts yeah yeah um I mean it it uh it the the first thing that I noticed that the the first thing that I noticed that was off when I got in the cold water the was off when I got in the cold water the first time like the first time I jump on
first time like the first time I jump on the frozen lake I I noticed my breathing the frozen lake I I noticed my breathing I was like my breathing is so off the I was like my breathing is so off the charts right charts right now um and because I'm because I'm an now um and because I'm because I'm an athlete that does Endurance Sports or athlete that does Endurance Sports or was doing very competitive Endurance was doing very competitive Endurance Sports I always I was always very aware Sports I always I was always very aware of my breathing uh and I knew that wow of my breathing uh and I knew that wow this water is really putting me under a this water is really putting me under a lot of stress um so immediately I went lot of stress um so immediately I went into hey you need to you need to dial into hey you need to you need to dial your breathing and you need to relax and your breathing and you need to relax and the minute I started just working on the minute I started just working on dialing my bread I noticed that it just dialing my bread I noticed that it just got way easier in the water I I kind of got way easier in the water I I kind of stopped fighting with it um but to me stopped fighting with it um but to me the bread aspect of everything that we the bread aspect of everything that we do and everything that I try to coach do and everything that I try to coach these days to people is like breathing these days to people is like breathing is the main factor of your is the main factor of your existence you know you did the first existence you know you did the first thing after you were born and it's going thing after you were born and it's going to be the last thing that you do before to be the last thing that you do before you die you're all the time you're you die you're all the time you're breathing you stop breathing you're breathing you stop breathing you're gonna die you know like you cannot just gonna die you know like you cannot just completely stop breathing um so then completely stop breathing um so then seeing the connection that he has with seeing the connection that he has with everything that we do in life and we everything that we do in life and we just don't realize it you know just don't realize it you know um I I started just really diving and um I I started just really diving and exploring what the breath is um I read exploring what the breath is um I read uh the oxygen Advantage book and then I uh the oxygen Advantage book and then I bre I read a breath too and I give you bre I read a breath too and I give you guys they were like the beginning of guys they were like the beginning of opening my eyes to understanding nasal opening my eyes to understanding nasal breathing versus mouth breathing but breathing versus mouth breathing but then you put into the mix that uh I then you put into the mix that uh I started noticing certain patterns of started noticing certain patterns of where I could enhance my experiences by where I could enhance my experiences by learning how to breathe better that's learning how to breathe better that's when I started just connecting the dots when I started just connecting the dots but the again I go back to the cold but the again I go back to the cold water the cold water really teach me water the cold water really teach me like wow there's such a strong
like wow there's such a strong connection with my brain how it operates connection with my brain how it operates and how I'm and how I'm breathing um and then pairing that with breathing um and then pairing that with movement exercise uh human functional movement exercise uh human functional motions that we do there's there's motions that we do there's there's certain ways of breathing that we need certain ways of breathing that we need to know how to do or experience doing uh to know how to do or experience doing uh when you're trying to perform in life when you're trying to perform in life you know um and it's very unfortunate you know um and it's very unfortunate that nobody really teaches you how how that nobody really teaches you how how how you should be how you should be breathing to put it in a Nell uh you you breathing to put it in a Nell uh you you should be breathing through your nose should be breathing through your nose all of the time you know you only save all of the time you know you only save mouth breathing to when you're speaking mouth breathing to when you're speaking when you're eating when you are are when you're eating when you are are doing a very very very high effort um doing a very very very high effort um such an Sprint uh or like if you're such an Sprint uh or like if you're working on a ve if you're working out on working on a ve if you're working out on a very high effort you're you're you're a very high effort you're you're you're going to be mouth breathing but there's going to be mouth breathing but there's a place to try to maximize breathing a place to try to maximize breathing through the nose and make it better and through the nose and make it better and better and better and use it when you're better and better and use it when you're recovering um so to give you a perfect recovering um so to give you a perfect example of the stuff that I'm talking example of the stuff that I'm talking about is like think of um what happens about is like think of um what happens when you're about to get into a car when you're about to get into a car accident you kind of lose your breath accident you kind of lose your breath right you're like if you're driving and right you're like if you're driving and somebody cuts you off you're like so the somebody cuts you off you're like so the breath is always there and it affects so breath is always there and it affects so many things you often times people go many things you often times people go into very short and shallow breaths into very short and shallow breaths because you're already under stress and because you're already under stress and your body doesn't know how to come down your body doesn't know how to come down but if you immediately start just but if you immediately start just breathing a little deeper using your breathing a little deeper using your belly more and stop of stop just belly more and stop of stop just breathing too shallow you start relaxing breathing too shallow you start relaxing your entire body and it changes your your entire body and it changes your mindset um so to me the bread aspect of mindset um so to me the bread aspect of it of of of things is connected to so it of of of things is connected to so many different things in life um I often many different things in life um I often times I K you not because I have little times I K you not because I have little toddlers you know toddlers you know like the kids are always testing your
like the kids are always testing your limits right so there's been times that limits right so there's been times that I feel like okay I'm about to get very I feel like okay I'm about to get very frustrated with my son or my daughter frustrated with my son or my daughter and I if I just take a couple of very and I if I just take a couple of very deep breaths and focus on my breaths I I deep breaths and focus on my breaths I I Cal down you know and it gives me Cal down you know and it gives me another approach all of a St you know so another approach all of a St you know so it's like we have this incredible tool it's like we have this incredible tool that we barely ever know how to really that we barely ever know how to really use but we're using it all the time you use but we're using it all the time you know um I have I was just gonna say I so know um I have I was just gonna say I so I read the James Nester book um on I read the James Nester book um on breath I think I can't remember what breath I think I can't remember what it's called it might be called that's it's called it might be called that's the one he was talking about yeah so I the one he was talking about yeah so I read that book and I still have not read that book and I still have not purchased mouth take but I need to do purchased mouth take but I need to do that and try sleeping with it but um I that and try sleeping with it but um I I've tried to work out with my mouth I've tried to work out with my mouth closed and when I'm doing an intense closed and when I'm doing an intense workout I struggle like and then I'm workout I struggle like and then I'm like like you know just like almost like like like you know just like almost like I I can't explain it but like at a low I I can't explain it but like at a low level I have no problem breathing level I have no problem breathing through my nose but once I get to I'm through my nose but once I get to I'm not talking about sprinting even lifting not talking about sprinting even lifting heavy weights it's like I'm gasping for heavy weights it's like I'm gasping for air and I I just haven't quite figured air and I I just haven't quite figured out how to I know you can train yourself out how to I know you can train yourself to almost extend the amount of time you to almost extend the amount of time you can breathe through your nose before you can breathe through your nose before you need to breathe through your mouth right need to breathe through your mouth right yeah I mean to it it's if you don't yeah I mean to it it's if you don't practice it you lose you lose it practice it you lose you lose it basically um and then it gets harder you basically um and then it gets harder you know but you have to go through that know but you have to go through that process of building it up building it up process of building it up building it up and it's it's just going to start coming and it's it's just going to start coming back to you you um but I mean it's uh back to you you um but I mean it's uh it's it's pretty eye opening to see how it's it's pretty eye opening to see how many people are breathing through their many people are breathing through their mouths without thinking about it you mouths without thinking about it you know and it's it's not the healthier way know and it's it's not the healthier way to breathe actually uh and you're not to breathe actually uh and you're not getting full oxygen advantage of of getting full oxygen advantage of of filling up your lungs the way that they filling up your lungs the way that they should be and you're not even working
should be and you're not even working your all of your breathing muscles when your all of your breathing muscles when you're mouth breathing um not to mention you're mouth breathing um not to mention all the dental stuff and stuff that's all the dental stuff and stuff that's going on in your mouth physically with going on in your mouth physically with when you're mouth breathing well in when you're mouth breathing well in snoring like yeah I bought mouth tape I snoring like yeah I bought mouth tape I mean I put it over my husband he he does mean I put it over my husband he he does it work it does it's just it stays on it work it does it's just it stays on him yeah yeah but yeah you got rid of him yeah yeah but yeah you got rid of the snoring by just mouth taping his the snoring by just mouth taping his mouth yeah you mouth yeah you know but back to back to the the know but back to back to the the training like for for uh in your training like for for uh in your particular case you you you you have try particular case you you you you have try working out with the mouth tape or just working out with the mouth tape or just breathing through the nose and you have breathing through the nose and you have experience how how hard it is um the I experience how how hard it is um the I don't know if you guys are familiar with don't know if you guys are familiar with the Gracies but these are like H the Gracies but these are like H Brazilian Brazilian jiujitsu H Fighters and they they do all jiujitsu H Fighters and they they do all kinds of stuff on on MMA kinds of stuff on on MMA and these guys are it's like a the grace and these guys are it's like a the grace is like a family from brazzil that this is like a family from brazzil that this this goes back like a 100 years ago they this goes back like a 100 years ago they they started training martial arts they started training martial arts and long story short the the guy that and long story short the the guy that started this concept of training this started this concept of training this Brazilian uh doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu Brazilian uh doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu and started like his own Academy and and started like his own Academy and started developing some of the best started developing some of the best athletes in the sport um they they athletes in the sport um they they interview this guy he's like an 80 year interview this guy he's like an 80 year old guy when they did the interview and old guy when they did the interview and they were very curious about like what they were very curious about like what are you guys doing that is so different are you guys doing that is so different than anybody else that is making this than anybody else that is making this incredible athletes and bringing these incredible athletes and bringing these type of results and he he talked about type of results and he he talked about um working out always at 70% of their um working out always at 70% of their effort and learning how to breathe effort and learning how to breathe through their nose basically as much as through their nose basically as much as possible uh so he kind of develop this possible uh so he kind of develop this method this gu called it like training
method this gu called it like training in the flow but he's learning to in the flow but he's learning to exercise at a 70% effort kind of gauging exercise at a 70% effort kind of gauging it by your mind okay 70% it should be it by your mind okay 70% it should be hard but I'm not going all out and I'm hard but I'm not going all out and I'm still having fun but I'm still putting still having fun but I'm still putting work in so basically they started doing work in so basically they started doing the vast majority of their training the vast majority of their training training in that training in that flow uh so they start noticing like hey flow uh so they start noticing like hey I can train more days a week with this I can train more days a week with this approach because I'm not getting injured approach because I'm not getting injured I'm not getting so run out um and I'm I'm not getting so run out um and I'm enjoying going to the gym knowing that enjoying going to the gym knowing that hey it's going to be a fun workout yeah hey it's going to be a fun workout yeah have to do some work here and there but have to do some work here and there but it's not like I'm going to the gym it's not like I'm going to the gym intimidated or deflet already um into a intimidated or deflet already um into a very hard session you know so the the very hard session you know so the the moral of the story with these guys is moral of the story with these guys is over time that's 70% for each one of over time that's 70% for each one of them it just kept growing and growing in them it just kept growing and growing in their mind they're still thinking I'm their mind they're still thinking I'm training at 70% but you're slowly taking training at 70% but you're slowly taking more care of your body and you're more care of your body and you're starting to do more workouts because starting to do more workouts because you're feeling good and you're not you're feeling good and you're not taxing the body too much and they start taxing the body too much and they start noticing that in in a in a onee span noticing that in in a in a onee span they will increase so much but in their they will increase so much but in their minds they're still training at minds they're still training at 70% um so it was very eye opening for me 70% um so it was very eye opening for me to hear stuff like that and start to hear stuff like that and start pairing it with the bread too you know a pairing it with the bread too you know a lot of times I feel like most people go lot of times I feel like most people go to the gym with a very dial workout plan to the gym with a very dial workout plan but it's the workout is not even talking but it's the workout is not even talking about breathing so what happens if you about breathing so what happens if you start put putting the breath piece in start put putting the breath piece in the front of your workout and then the front of your workout and then you're starting to exercise move with you're starting to exercise move with approaching it from the from the approaching it from the from the breathing perspective you know and then breathing perspective you know and then what happens is just yeah it might feel what happens is just yeah it might feel a little harder which means hey you need a little harder which means hey you need to go a little easier at the beginning to go a little easier at the beginning you know and start to get to a point you know and start to get to a point where you enjoy it but you're working
where you enjoy it but you're working with your breath and then and then you with your breath and then and then you start noticing okay it's starting to get start noticing okay it's starting to get easier I'm not thinking too much about easier I'm not thinking too much about it to me like these days I I used to be it to me like these days I I used to be very mindful of how I was breathing back very mindful of how I was breathing back in the then I would caught myself every in the then I would caught myself every once in a while breathing through my once in a while breathing through my mouth and then I you know like I I mouth and then I you know like I I constantly kind of check where I am and constantly kind of check where I am and I I'm breathing through my nose so much I I'm breathing through my nose so much these days it's just amazing and it these days it's just amazing and it happens naturally and if I start working happens naturally and if I start working out the first thing that I go after is out the first thing that I go after is my breathing right away you know um but my breathing right away you know um but to to even give you a little more to to even give you a little more perspective when I first play with the perspective when I first play with the concept of of breathing only through my concept of of breathing only through my nose I was not doing a SAA I was doing C nose I was not doing a SAA I was doing C therapy but I wasn't really approaching therapy but I wasn't really approaching it from the breath aspect of things um I it from the breath aspect of things um I was actually running a lot and I I kind was actually running a lot and I I kind of approach nose breathing to see if I of approach nose breathing to see if I could improve my uh my BO2 Max uh so I could improve my uh my BO2 Max uh so I start after after reading the oxygen start after after reading the oxygen Advantage I was like well I'm going to Advantage I was like well I'm going to I'm going to start trying to run I'm going to start trying to run breathing through my nose and only breathing through my nose and only saving mouth breathing when I'm doing saving mouth breathing when I'm doing very hard intervals and uh I did very hard intervals and uh I did basically in in a one month spam I went basically in in a one month spam I went from I was only able to run an 8 minute from I was only able to run an 8 minute mile breathing through my nose when I mile breathing through my nose when I first did the test and my average pace first did the test and my average pace usually on a regular run was faster than usually on a regular run was faster than 8 Minute miles so I was like wow this is 8 Minute miles so I was like wow this is really humbling I can only run an 8 really humbling I can only run an 8 minute mile in my mind I'm like this minute mile in my mind I'm like this this is not the regular Louise here um this is not the regular Louise here um and then I literally I didn't do and then I literally I didn't do anything but breathe through my nose all anything but breathe through my nose all of my runs for an entire month and I of my runs for an entire month and I wasn't even mixing workouts or anything wasn't even mixing workouts or anything I was just going for regular runs I was just going for regular runs breathing only through my nose and I breathing only through my nose and I allow one month to go by and then I allow one month to go by and then I tested myself again and I was able to tested myself again and I was able to run uh under six minute mile in one
run uh under six minute mile in one month breathing through wow you know month breathing through wow you know okay I want I'm not even a runner but I okay I want I'm not even a runner but I want to try that that's impressive I'm want to try that that's impressive I'm actually running in a 10 mile race this actually running in a 10 mile race this weekend and cities yes and I keep weekend and cities yes and I keep thinking about I wonder if I try and run thinking about I wonder if I try and run with my mouth closed but I think that with my mouth closed but I think that would be really hard because I haven't would be really hard because I haven't trained for that I don't know I trained for that I don't know I recommend before you do a race like that recommend before you do a race like that just just do a lot of training in it just just do a lot of training in it because it it will make it you're gonna because it it will make it you're gonna feel like it's gonna be way harder you feel like it's gonna be way harder you know yeah and and if you're doing it know yeah and and if you're doing it you're probably gonna be running slower you're probably gonna be running slower too so because it's a race you probably too so because it's a race you probably want to go uh execute your best plan want to go uh execute your best plan right there and I think give yourself right there and I think give yourself some time to try it really well and and some time to try it really well and and start doing it okay start doing it okay so you've I mean all this information so you've I mean all this information youve shared is so fascinating and youve shared is so fascinating and you've really created this community and you've really created this community and this lifestyle between the sauna the this lifestyle between the sauna the cold plunge the breath work and the cold plunge the breath work and the workouts and I know you wrote a book and workouts and I know you wrote a book and you just recently opened up son strong you just recently opened up son strong um it's just you're really helping um it's just you're really helping people like bring people together in a people like bring people together in a community of like-minded folks to live community of like-minded folks to live more fulfilling and joyful lives right more fulfilling and joyful lives right so you so you know how are you helping how is all of know how are you helping how is all of this helping people create those types this helping people create those types of more meaning in their life and more of more meaning in their life and more fulfillment and joy everything that fulfillment and joy everything that you're doing and maybe talk you can you're doing and maybe talk you can share a little bit about the book that share a little bit about the book that you have and because it's really this you have and because it's really this lifestyle it's not just like going and lifestyle it's not just like going and jumping in a lake you know once a week jumping in a lake you know once a week and then that's it right you're trying and then that's it right you're trying to create this like really movement and to create this like really movement and this saop poy lifestyle this saop poy lifestyle yeah I was thinking more like going and yeah I was thinking more like going and jumping in a lake once a year so so yeah jumping in a lake once a year so so yeah maybe expand on maybe expand on that yeah I mean the yeah if you want that yeah I mean the yeah if you want I'll start just talking with the book I'll start just talking with the book actually the the book is is a very actually the the book is is a very simple like easy to read type of a book simple like easy to read type of a book we Are we only have it on Amazon Amazon
we Are we only have it on Amazon Amazon is publishing the book the book for us is publishing the book the book for us and I did it with my business partner and I did it with my business partner Harrison um basically somebody asked us Harrison um basically somebody asked us the question like hey if you if you ever the question like hey if you if you ever write a book what will be the component write a book what will be the component that your book will have and that that that your book will have and that that just got us thinking of it and we were just got us thinking of it and we were like hey let's just put a quick thing like hey let's just put a quick thing together that I think it will be easier together that I think it will be easier for us to put together um and basically for us to put together um and basically we just highlighted the lifestyle that we just highlighted the lifestyle that you guys were saying you know uh and we you guys were saying you know uh and we dive in some topics we go a little dive in some topics we go a little deeper like cold water and SAA but also deeper like cold water and SAA but also we talk about the simplicity of life um we talk about the simplicity of life um living with less uh spending a lot of living with less uh spending a lot of time birot uh uh trying to have uh um a time birot uh uh trying to have uh um a community um so we try to basically put community um so we try to basically put a very clear picture of this is the a very clear picture of this is the lifestyle that we have been living and lifestyle that we have been living and these are kind of like the the side these are kind of like the the side effects that we have noticed and we're effects that we have noticed and we're just putting it in a easier kind of uh just putting it in a easier kind of uh format for people to read it and dive it format for people to read it and dive it dive into these topics and start just dive into these topics and start just applying some of them or or all of them applying some of them or or all of them in in people's lives but I I you not in in people's lives but I I you not like my my passion for helping people like my my passion for helping people and my what I have and my what I have seen through playing with cold water and seen through playing with cold water and SAA creating Community Learning how to SAA creating Community Learning how to breathe uh making your life a little breathe uh making your life a little more simple becoming almost like a more more simple becoming almost like a more wild human being is so so much of wild human being is so so much of everything that I do these days that I'm everything that I do these days that I'm like I'm so honored to be able to share like I'm so honored to be able to share this type of stuff with people and see this type of stuff with people and see how much it starts affecting H people H how much it starts affecting H people H these days and that's the that's like I these days and that's the that's like I I love being able to come to to to come I love being able to come to to to come to the to the community and be able to to the to the community and be able to bring something that I know is so bring something that I know is so powerful and people are lacking these
powerful and people are lacking these days and then again I go back to these days and then again I go back to these side effects that I see with people and side effects that I see with people and I I've I feel very lucky because I get I I've I feel very lucky because I get to show people some very incredible to show people some very incredible human experiences that you can do on human experiences that you can do on your own but then we can talk about it your own but then we can talk about it and that builds a very incredible and that builds a very incredible Community around it you know doesn't Community around it you know doesn't matter who you matter who you are like what your background is like are like what your background is like when you're getting in that water we're when you're getting in that water we're all talking the same lingo this is all talking the same lingo this is what's happening this is what you're what's happening this is what you're experiencing and then you talk about experiencing and then you talk about that or SAA talk you're sitting in the that or SAA talk you're sitting in the SAA okay I'm about to tap out like how SAA okay I'm about to tap out like how are you guys doing and having very are you guys doing and having very simple humanlike conversation STS allows simple humanlike conversation STS allows you to create Community um so I feel you to create Community um so I feel like I'm I'm able to facilitate right like I'm I'm able to facilitate right now the opportunity to hey let's let's now the opportunity to hey let's let's get people together let's share these get people together let's share these things and let's start thinking less things and let's start thinking less less complicated let's let's start less complicated let's let's start thinking less complicated with thinking less complicated with everything that we do because everything everything that we do because everything is so fastpaced and hard these days that is so fastpaced and hard these days that hey back it off and let's go back to the hey back it off and let's go back to the basics you know so I mean Stephanie and basics you know so I mean Stephanie and I talk about Community a lot on this I talk about Community a lot on this podcast and we're firm Believers in podcast and we're firm Believers in building community and we hope we're building community and we hope we're building our own Community here with the building our own Community here with the Art of Living Well podcast but what Art of Living Well podcast but what types of fun community building events types of fun community building events are you planning for the Twin Cities um are you planning for the Twin Cities um we would love to have our community join we would love to have our community join your community in some of those events your community in some of those events yeah um we are I mean first and foremost yeah um we are I mean first and foremost sound as strong is we're almost fully sound as strong is we're almost fully open we're kind of in this soft opening open we're kind of in this soft opening phase right now um but yeah in in a phase right now um but yeah in in a couple of weeks we're going to be uh couple of weeks we're going to be uh kind of opening the doors completely kind of opening the doors completely with SAA strong we're at gym here in with SAA strong we're at gym here in lyen Hills um and we we have we're going lyen Hills um and we we have we're going to be doing a lot of community events to be doing a lot of community events where we are getting together to do where we are getting together to do workouts to take people
workouts to take people outside uh do breeding sessions with outside uh do breeding sessions with people uh so as part of the gym concept people uh so as part of the gym concept that we have we're always going to be that we have we're always going to be putting a very high emphasis of doing putting a very high emphasis of doing community events that relate those community events that relate those things you know and they're going to things you know and they're going to always be open to the public to me it's always be open to the public to me it's always such an easy way to open the door always such an easy way to open the door of my gym of the stuff that we do to hey of my gym of the stuff that we do to hey just come see what we're doing and I I just come see what we're doing and I I can care less if you become a member if can care less if you become a member if anything I I just want to show you a few anything I I just want to show you a few tools that I really want you to do tools that I really want you to do because I know that this is going to because I know that this is going to continue to affect how how Society gets continue to affect how how Society gets better you know it's and I go back to better you know it's and I go back to just you experiencing something that is just you experiencing something that is so powerful and then you go talk about so powerful and then you go talk about it with somebody else and it's something it with somebody else and it's something so so simple um and then I think we we're simple um and then I think we we're sitting on a on something so powerful sitting on a on something so powerful that can make this world a better place that can make this world a better place and it's already happening I have so and it's already happening I have so much hope and faith on all of much hope and faith on all of this that's awesome and I know you had this that's awesome and I know you had an event last weekend I wasn't able to an event last weekend I wasn't able to go so I look forward to participating in go so I look forward to participating in of those um events so this is just of those um events so this is just pivoting a little bit before we need to pivoting a little bit before we need to start to wrap this up but we know you've start to wrap this up but we know you've done some pretty cool experiences like done some pretty cool experiences like the hell on the hill and biked Across the hell on the hill and biked Across America and you know with Jesse itler America and you know with Jesse itler and some of um that group of your and some of um that group of your friends can you just share a little friends can you just share a little snippet or you know talk about it a bit snippet or you know talk about it a bit and really how those connections have and really how those connections have propelled you on your path and what propelled you on your path and what you're doing and that's a community as you're doing and that's a community as well right totally totally um yeah I well right totally totally um yeah I mean mean I following my passion of just getting I following my passion of just getting in cold water and doing the stuff that in cold water and doing the stuff that we're doing in in the winter on the we're doing in in the winter on the lakes here that that that kind of lakes here that that that kind of allowed me to put myself in the radar of allowed me to put myself in the radar of Jesse Jesse ller um who literally saw a video of ller um who literally saw a video of Harrison and I walking shirtless one day Harrison and I walking shirtless one day to go to the lake and go jump in the in
to go to the lake and go jump in the in the frozen water um he literally saw the frozen water um he literally saw this video and he was like yeah I want this video and he was like yeah I want to I want to go kick it with those guys to I want to go kick it with those guys um and then they were planning on doing um and then they were planning on doing a uh one of his a uh one of his masterminds big trip uh they call it the masterminds big trip uh they call it the Mogi it was for basically 30 people that Mogi it was for basically 30 people that are in this group and he actually had are in this group and he actually had the idea why why don't we take the Mogi the idea why why don't we take the Mogi group this group um to to go experience group this group um to to go experience cold you know so long story short I cold you know so long story short I connected with him I was able to facilit connected with him I was able to facilit itate a retreat for for these people we itate a retreat for for these people we basically have people sleeping on tents basically have people sleeping on tents on the frozen lake on the frozen lake um and then jumping in the frozen water um and then jumping in the frozen water and we did breath work um we went on and we did breath work um we went on Hikes outside with minimal layers um and Hikes outside with minimal layers um and that that was like my door kind of that that was like my door kind of opening with experiencing what Jesse opening with experiencing what Jesse ller is doing and what he does and and ller is doing and what he does and and then that open the doors for me to then that open the doors for me to connect with more individuals and and connect with more individuals and and actually becoming very good close actually becoming very good close friends with Jesse um but he he kind of friends with Jesse um but he he kind of recognized that I I was I was very recognized that I I was I was very knowledgeable in SAS and I was doing Co knowledgeable in SAS and I was doing Co therapy very hardcore here and I think therapy very hardcore here and I think he caught a little bit of this wild he caught a little bit of this wild aspect of me uh and it was very aspect of me uh and it was very intriguing for him um and then yeah we intriguing for him um and then yeah we started just connecting more he he ended started just connecting more he he ended up purchasing SAS um from from us here up purchasing SAS um from from us here in Minnesota and then started inviting in Minnesota and then started inviting me to a bunch of the events that he was me to a bunch of the events that he was doing and and right around that time doing and and right around that time that's when my SAA papy character had that's when my SAA papy character had become official on Instagram you know so become official on Instagram you know so all of a I'm the S of puy and he I'm all of a I'm the S of puy and he I'm like it kind of started all kind of like it kind of started all kind of getting h a lot of Direction with my own getting h a lot of Direction with my own personal character you know but it's
personal character you know but it's like hey this is me it's Louis the SAA like hey this is me it's Louis the SAA papy I love SAS and I love having H papy I love SAS and I love having H people experience how I do things um and people experience how I do things um and that became the staple for me with this that became the staple for me with this SAA papy um but yeah then uh I uh this SAA papy um but yeah then uh I uh this year I was very honor Jesse invited me year I was very honor Jesse invited me to bike across the to bike across the country um we he invited nine of his um country um we he invited nine of his um closest friends basically um and we we closest friends basically um and we we bike from from San Diego California to bike from from San Diego California to St Austine Florida um it was 14 days um St Austine Florida um it was 14 days um 10 10 of us uh living on RBS and we were 10 10 of us uh living on RBS and we were holding a SAA and we we did the whole holding a SAA and we we did the whole thing uh racing money for a charity that thing uh racing money for a charity that buys bicycles for buys bicycles for kids um and we we we raised like kids um and we we we raised like $150,000 um and at the same time it was $150,000 um and at the same time it was it was such an incredible experience um it was such an incredible experience um but yeah I'm very involved with all day but yeah I'm very involved with all day Running Co um I'm extremely good friends Running Co um I'm extremely good friends with all of them with Devon lavesque um with all of them with Devon lavesque um and I've been basically facilitating SAA and I've been basically facilitating SAA sauna solutions to a lot of people in sauna solutions to a lot of people in their Network too um and and yeah and a their Network too um and and yeah and a lot of people are kind of doing the lot of people are kind of doing the stuff that I do in terms of people stuff that I do in terms of people buying papy sticks buying my essential buying papy sticks buying my essential oils for SAS um and kind of living this oils for SAS um and kind of living this lifestyle uh so it's been it I I was lifestyle uh so it's been it I I was able to tap into that Network by just able to tap into that Network by just doing the stuff that I do and like I was doing the stuff that I do and like I was just you know like don't don't make life just you know like don't don't make life too complicated it's pretty amazing and too complicated it's pretty amazing and he's he's a real inspirational guy as he's he's a real inspirational guy as you are as well so I could see where the you are as well so I could see where the two of you would hit it off um I have a two of you would hit it off um I have a very serious question for you Louise I'm very serious question for you Louise I'm wondering cold plunge or sauna what's
