03:00which we didn't even know was a thing which we didn't even know was a thing and you founded Edge Theory labs and and you founded Edge Theory labs and and you founded Edge Theory labs and you've built this whole Community around you've built this whole Community around you've built this whole Community around your method can you talk about that a your method can you talk about that a your method can you talk about that a little bit little bit little bit absolutely yeah like like I'm sure absolutely yeah like like I'm sure absolutely yeah like like I'm sure everybody on whatever Journey that everybody on whatever Journey that everybody on whatever Journey that they're on whatever story they're they're on whatever story they're they're on whatever story they're telling um you got to wrestle through telling um you got to wrestle through telling um you got to wrestle through the mud right like our mess becomes our the mud right like our mess becomes our the mud right like our mess becomes our message and for me my mess became my message and for me my mess became my message and for me my mess became my message as well and I from the moment I message as well and I from the moment I message as well and I from the moment I was born breath it's so funny that I I was born breath it's so funny that I I was born breath it's so funny that I I teach breath work and bre is like I just teach breath work and bre is like I just teach breath work and bre is like I just said the non-negotiable to wake up but said the non-negotiable to wake up but said the non-negotiable to wake up but my breath was taken away from me quite my breath was taken away from me quite my breath was taken away from me quite literally when I was born and my lung literally when I was born and my lung literally when I was born and my lung collapsed minutes after I was born and collapsed minutes after I was born and collapsed minutes after I was born and um and they didn't know how long I was um and they didn't know how long I was um and they didn't know how long I was without oxygen so they they didn't know without oxygen so they they didn't know without oxygen so they they didn't know if I sustained brain damage or the if I sustained brain damage or the if I sustained brain damage or the extent of brain damage that I had so extent of brain damage that I had so extent of brain damage that I had so thankfully they were able to um make an thankfully they were able to um make an thankfully they were able to um make an incision um right there in the elevator incision um right there in the elevator incision um right there in the elevator as as they were taking me and I spent as as they were taking me and I spent as as they were taking me and I spent the first two weeks of my life in the the first two weeks of my life in the the first two weeks of my life in the NICU not even being able to to see my NICU not even being able to to see my NICU not even being able to to see my mom so that set the tone right my breath mom so that set the tone right my breath mom so that set the tone right my breath was was taken away from me from the
04:00was was taken away from me from the was was taken away from me from the beginning and and and for me my beginning and and and for me my beginning and and and for me my challenges have come in this lifetime so challenges have come in this lifetime so challenges have come in this lifetime so far in the in the form of physical far in the in the form of physical far in the in the form of physical physical challenges and physical trauma physical challenges and physical trauma physical challenges and physical trauma in my body so growing up as an active in my body so growing up as an active in my body so growing up as an active active boy playing around I had my fair active boy playing around I had my fair active boy playing around I had my fair share of like broken bones here and share of like broken bones here and share of like broken bones here and there sure that that's that's fine but there sure that that's that's fine but there sure that that's that's fine but um when I was 17 I had a a near-death um when I was 17 I had a a near-death um when I was 17 I had a a near-death experience actually when I had a um a experience actually when I had a um a experience actually when I had a um a rare injury to my um to my quad to my rare injury to my um to my quad to my rare injury to my um to my quad to my muscle and my quad called compartment muscle and my quad called compartment muscle and my quad called compartment syndrome and it basically from a blunt syndrome and it basically from a blunt syndrome and it basically from a blunt force trauma from from football and then force trauma from from football and then force trauma from from football and then much time and then another football much time and then another football much time and then another football injury I my muscle compartment had injury I my muscle compartment had injury I my muscle compartment had filled with blood so there was no filled with blood so there was no filled with blood so there was no circulation going to down to my toes so circulation going to down to my toes so circulation going to down to my toes so basically I want to ER because I was in basically I want to ER because I was in basically I want to ER because I was in so much pain and I was hoping to just so much pain and I was hoping to just so much pain and I was hoping to just get some pain meds and get some ice and get some pain meds and get some ice and get some pain meds and get some ice and they said we need to take you into they said we need to take you into they said we need to take you into surgery now otherwise we're gonna need surgery now otherwise we're gonna need surgery now otherwise we're gonna need to amputate your leg in a few hours and to amputate your leg in a few hours and to amputate your leg in a few hours and that was very sobering right as a that was very sobering right as a that was very sobering right as a 17-year-old kid to hear that like whoa 17-year-old kid to hear that like whoa 17-year-old kid to hear that like whoa so I went I got rushed into surgery and
05:00so I went I got rushed into surgery and so I went I got rushed into surgery and during that surgery I actually had this during that surgery I actually had this during that surgery I actually had this out-of- body experience and it changed out-of- body experience and it changed out-of- body experience and it changed my life entirely of feeling myself like my life entirely of feeling myself like my life entirely of feeling myself like hovering in the room and then coming hovering in the room and then coming hovering in the room and then coming back into connection with my body and back into connection with my body and back into connection with my body and that was just something that I couldn't that was just something that I couldn't that was just something that I couldn't ignore moving forward and and so ignore moving forward and and so ignore moving forward and and so recovering from that and then a couple recovering from that and then a couple recovering from that and then a couple years later I had appendectomy from years later I had appendectomy from years later I had appendectomy from appendicitis which is a normal thing appendicitis which is a normal thing appendicitis which is a normal thing until the doctor nicked an artery and I until the doctor nicked an artery and I until the doctor nicked an artery and I had internal bleeding blood transfusions had internal bleeding blood transfusions had internal bleeding blood transfusions weeks in the hospital very touch and go weeks in the hospital very touch and go weeks in the hospital very touch and go and um I I that after that was just and um I I that after that was just and um I I that after that was just brought to my I was brought to my knees brought to my I was brought to my knees brought to my I was brought to my knees quite literally just like I felt like my quite literally just like I felt like my quite literally just like I felt like my body was failing me I had developed body was failing me I had developed body was failing me I had developed chronic back pain as a result of another chronic back pain as a result of another chronic back pain as a result of another knee surgery I had for my ACL and so as knee surgery I had for my ACL and so as knee surgery I had for my ACL and so as a as a 22y old kid I'm sitting there a as a 22y old kid I'm sitting there a as a 22y old kid I'm sitting there just like feeling just horrible in my just like feeling just horrible in my just like feeling just horrible in my body not at home not comfortable feeling body not at home not comfortable feeling body not at home not comfortable feeling distrust feeling like I'm going to be in distrust feeling like I'm going to be in distrust feeling like I'm going to be in a wheelchair by the time I'm 30 right a wheelchair by the time I'm 30 right a wheelchair by the time I'm 30 right like literally these These are the like literally these These are the like literally these These are the beliefs and thoughts that I had and beliefs and thoughts that I had and beliefs and thoughts that I had and thankfully you know God works in thankfully you know God works in thankfully you know God works in mysterious ways as as I say and um I
06:00mysterious ways as as I say and um I mysterious ways as as I say and um I went to a yoga class my my uncle went to a yoga class my my uncle went to a yoga class my my uncle convinced me to go to this yoga class convinced me to go to this yoga class convinced me to go to this yoga class and it was a it was a sculpt yoga class and it was a it was a sculpt yoga class and it was a it was a sculpt yoga class if you guys done a sculpt yoga yeah not if you guys done a sculpt yoga yeah not if you guys done a sculpt yoga yeah not a fan but I have done it before yeah for a fan but I have done it before yeah for a fan but I have done it before yeah for me it was the only reason I it was the me it was the only reason I it was the me it was the only reason I it was the only way that I would ever walk into a only way that I would ever walk into a only way that I would ever walk into a yoga studio like oh no there's weights yoga studio like oh no there's weights yoga studio like oh no there's weights okay there's weights I'll go into yoga okay there's weights I'll go into yoga okay there's weights I'll go into yoga you right it was the gateway drug if you you right it was the gateway drug if you you right it was the gateway drug if you will and and so I went I went in and did will and and so I went I went in and did will and and so I went I went in and did it was a great workout but I remember at it was a great workout but I remember at it was a great workout but I remember at the end being in chiasa and I was like the end being in chiasa and I was like the end being in chiasa and I was like Yeah The Workout was good but what was Yeah The Workout was good but what was Yeah The Workout was good but what was that thing we did at the end what was that thing we did at the end what was that thing we did at the end what was that called chiasa like that felt really that called chiasa like that felt really that called chiasa like that felt really good I I I liked I felt I felt for for good I I I liked I felt I felt for for good I I I liked I felt I felt for for the first time that I can ever remember the first time that I can ever remember the first time that I can ever remember this feeling of like peace in my body this feeling of like peace in my body this feeling of like peace in my body like that was interesting so then I like that was interesting so then I like that was interesting so then I started doing other yoga classes right started doing other yoga classes right started doing other yoga classes right real yoga classes if you will and I real yoga classes if you will and I real yoga classes if you will and I started going deeper into it and started started going deeper into it and started started going deeper into it and started notice wow I can improve flexibility I notice wow I can improve flexibility I notice wow I can improve flexibility I can I can start to sit on my knees again can I can start to sit on my knees again can I can start to sit on my knees again I can improve range of motion my hips I can improve range of motion my hips I can improve range of motion my hips can open back up and that took me deep can open back up and that took me deep can open back up and that took me deep down this path of of becoming a yogi and down this path of of becoming a yogi and down this path of of becoming a yogi and I I eventually became a yoga instructor I I eventually became a yoga instructor I I eventually became a yoga instructor a big theme in my story is following a big theme in my story is following a big theme in my story is following these breadcrumbs of of being able to

09:00here and then I as I continue down that here and then I as I continue down that path of Health and Wellness um I took path of Health and Wellness um I took path of Health and Wellness um I took control of my diet My Lifestyle shifted control of my diet My Lifestyle shifted control of my diet My Lifestyle shifted completely I I got healthy I shedded a completely I I got healthy I shedded a completely I I got healthy I shedded a lot of a lot of pounds I was carrying lot of a lot of pounds I was carrying lot of a lot of pounds I was carrying around that I didn't need to be holding around that I didn't need to be holding around that I didn't need to be holding on to anymore and a lot of inflammation on to anymore and a lot of inflammation on to anymore and a lot of inflammation chronic inflammation systemic chronic inflammation systemic chronic inflammation systemic inflammation in my body that was inflammation in my body that was inflammation in my body that was presenting itself in different ways and presenting itself in different ways and presenting itself in different ways and and so I started getting healthier and and so I started getting healthier and and so I started getting healthier and then I was listening to a podcast I love then I was listening to a podcast I love then I was listening to a podcast I love podcast and I heard this crazy Dutch guy podcast and I heard this crazy Dutch guy podcast and I heard this crazy Dutch guy named whm Hoff on a podcast and he was named whm Hoff on a podcast and he was named whm Hoff on a podcast and he was talking about talking about talking about um how he was sharing his story of how um how he was sharing his story of how um how he was sharing his story of how his wife had committed suicide and how his wife had committed suicide and how his wife had committed suicide and how he was he was on the brink of suicide as he was he was on the brink of suicide as he was he was on the brink of suicide as well and how doing cold immersion and well and how doing cold immersion and well and how doing cold immersion and going into the cold cold River in um in going into the cold cold River in um in going into the cold cold River in um in Amsterdam and and doing this breath work Amsterdam and and doing this breath work Amsterdam and and doing this breath work this Tomo style breath work from from this Tomo style breath work from from this Tomo style breath work from from the Himalayas started creating relief the Himalayas started creating relief the Himalayas started creating relief for him and he shared this message that for him and he shared this message that for him and he shared this message that resonated with me the time which is that resonated with me the time which is that resonated with me the time which is that we are responsible for our our own we are responsible for our our own we are responsible for our our own health strength and happiness and that health strength and happiness and that health strength and happiness and that was like so deeply empowering for me to was like so deeply empowering for me to was like so deeply empowering for me to hear we are are responsible I Joshua am
