Getting NAKED With Locals in Finland Finnish Sauna Experience and Eating Reind
00:00we've just picked up some beer and we are on our way to get naked with the locals literally we're heading to our very first finish sauna experience afterwards we're going to try some reindeer this is our one day in helsinki finland but let's show you how we got here [Music] i think this is by far our earliest flight i'm feeling it for sure okay let's go our airbnb goes back this way and the bus stop is right here good morning from the outskirts of venice we're taking a bus to the airport to get the helsinki we bought our tickets the other day from the kiosk here and we're taking the atvo airport bus so it's a little more expensive but it does get us there a lot faster than i think the city bus would have the earliest bus leaves at 4 30 they were eight euro apiece
01:00that bus took exactly 15 minutes and it even made a couple stops on the way that's the way to go we may have a problem this is the line for security as of right now it's completely impossible for us to make it through this line in time so we uh we might have to ask if we can jump ahead at some point it took us exactly 30 minutes to get through that line i am beyond impressed and so happy we have 10 minutes till our gate closes thank you we're not sitting together that's okay i think i have an exit row again though i think i may actually have a window seat these tickets were thirty dollars each flight should be just under four hours
02:00turns out i am not the window seat so you guys will be seeing just as much as i will on the way honey this is our 23rd country together 23. that's my favorite number it smells fresh oh there were so many trees on the way in like forest everything was green i love the north i haven't seen a forest check out that language the only plan as of right now is to find some food and coffee we have not eaten yet today then we're gonna check into our hostel and then head to a finished sauna that means a nude sauna it'll be very interesting to see how this goes
03:00actually that's not what they call it here at all do you know if we need to get tickets or anything i have no idea i know we need bus 617 it'll take us straight to our hostel it's also like 63 degrees out so it feels like really cool and chilly i like it not a fan amber always wants to stand on the bus you guys want to stand for the next 45 minutes their bag's on no i don't i like to give my seat to the elderly unlike somebody okay
04:00i love finland it is kind of like home more like minnesota but it's green and alive and lush i think this is my new favorite place and all we've done is take a bus i am so tired i'm going to fall asleep in this sauna hey we're there hello hi are you here to check in yes it already is we're on our way to the grocery store and then the sauna you'll see why in just a second these are 2 15. just to give some more details on this sauna it is fully nude you don't wear anything which means we're not really going to be able to film the inside we are attempting to get there when it opens so maybe we can get there before anybody else does that's our hope we'll show you what we see when we walk in
05:00give you a little update when we go outside to drink our beer go back in come back out and give you a full rundown of everything the place we're heading is the oldest wood sauna throughout the entire city and it's filled with locals and very few tourists we'd give you the name but we can't pronounce it anyway also one of the cheapest though it stays like today where i'm so happy that we film all of our travels two weeks ago we were in cappadocia turkey and since then we've been to germany sardinia venice and today we're in helsinki getting naked with strangers in the sauna if you want to watch where we've been and where we're going subscribe follow along when reading reviews ahead of time to prepare for this experience we read that you should bring your own beer you can buy some here but when everybody inside gets too hot you grab your towel and you go sit outside and drink your beer to cool off basically naked and that's what we're going to do because we want to keep this as traditional as possible i am so nervous
06:00but excited are you nervous i didn't expect to see the people that i was going to have to see naked waiting outside i don't know why that's like i wasn't ready for that i was more ready to walk into a bunch of naked people rather than waiting in line with everybody i'm gonna get naked with it's a different mindset we really thought that we would be the only people showing up here at two there's already i'd say at least five men waiting outside this is separated by gender so i will have my own space on a different floor nathan will be on the first floor we're gonna put this camera away i don't wanna freak them out but i will try to use my phone if and when i can we haven't seen any other women so amber might be alone i'm going to run through their butt naked and record everything that i can because it's just going to be me my favorite card okay so can we meet out here actually 2 30 6 30 yeah all right

08:00know okay where do the wise don't sit up top heat rises i will pop a squat literally right on this uh in the small seat right here and wait for these other ladies to walk in i think i already made my first mistake you're supposed to grab one of these to set your butt on so i'm gonna do that now you have to take your jewelry off because it burns really bad i should have thought about that i've already wasted like 15 minutes just kind of running around taking video and i already have to go outside and meet nathan in about 10 so this is working out great i haven't even sweat any just met two really nice finished girls and now i'm gonna head outside hang out with nathan
09:00i'm part of the gang already i actually met two finnish girls they're very nice and they kind of just hung out with me and gave me the lowdown and they explain pretty much everything when you walk in you have to ask them if you want more water make it hotter and the person at the highest level makes the decision on the temperature because that's the hardest part we all sat at the top nobody asked anybody anything i was in the middle they just thought it was really interesting that um the uh wood burner is like really high up and normally you can sit from your seat and just toss it on the stones but this isn't a stone sauna so no yeah this is the most traditional and oldest and best and then does anybody have well leaves things a bunch of branches okay so they have um eucalyptus you have to keep it in water for like 20 minutes and let it cook something like that and then it's ready
10:00i'm having a great time hi that was so much fun i would recommend this to anybody and i think honestly it wasn't just like the sauna itself it was the people yeah i want to go back tomorrow they were so friendly and welcoming and they talked to us and gave us the lowdown on everything like straight away i didn't have to ask one of the guys was just like here come here shower come here this is where it's hot this is where it's cold and told us all the rules i did ask the two girls i said so can i just ask like how long have you been coming to a son oh like our whole life they said maybe not like baby but you know when my sister was born she was two days old and we brought her so two days oh like they brought the basket in and her mom was like oh she's fine
11:00okay man but it was just like an old boy's club in there uh you go in you have a conversation you are in there for about five to ten minutes you go out drink some water drink some beer whatever you want go back in or you go out take a shower cool off and then go back in so you go in and out in and out in and out but they're there for hours and one told me that he comes every sunday the girls basically explained they go once a week as well if they're on vacation and at their cabin every cabin home has one you usually run it every day they said almost every home nowadays built will have a sauna built into it which for us sounds so fancy yeah it does but even small apartment flats if they don't have one there's a communal one and you can pay 10 10 euro a month and you can go on your own like once a week and that is yours they do have free ones but everybody there said that that was the best one the most natural you could tell the difference between a wood fired and an electric one and that's the one you
12:00need to go to i did not get quite as an authentic experience as nathan because he had to like whip himself with eucalyptus and stuff but either way yep this was fun i'm gonna say 9 out of 10 because you can't give a 10 out of 10 on your first one i'm actually excited to go and experience other ones so that we can kind of compare and i'll seek these out yeah yeah they um the women told me they're like yeah as an american i'm actually impressed that you're in here naked they say uh we know that you guys don't like to be naked and we expected you to be wearing a bathing suit oh confidence i would feel more awkward wearing a bathing suit than i was naked i mean it just doesn't yeah so you have to wear sandals because your feet will burn um and you don't have to bring a towel in i did but that's not normal everybody else especially in his room nobody brings a towel inside so you are fully open oh yeah yep yep okay time to go finally check into the hostel
13:00and then get some reindeer and some other finished food that they told us to eat yeah we were making our way back to the hostel but we passed this little street garage sale thing again and now we're eating pad thai you just never know where the day's going to take you i'm so excited we'll get reindeer later but we're eating tie right now by the way the pad thai we just inhaled was delicious i did not expect that i haven't had anything remotely like it in months it was so good it was six euro a piece and drink for euro 50 and from everything else we've seen that might be the most affordable meal that we're going to have here wow we have our nice little corner room we booked this room and it was 70 a
14:00night which is quite expensive for us however we booked it through our chase travel portal and we used our chase sapphire preferred card which gave us 50 off so at the end of the day we only spent 90 which is 45 a night one final thing as far as like spending money goes uh the rain gear that we want to have tonight will not be cheap you can't find cheap reindeer in the city but it's an experience that we want to have so we're willing to put in more for this meal and we'll probably be splitting it we're gonna order one not two the guys at the sauna told us to also get fried herring with potatoes so maybe we'll look for that i do want to have reindeer though we've had our hearts on our reindeer so that'll probably happen no matter the cost one last little bit of information that the guys at the sauna taught me is that summer solstice is in about two or three days it's the longest day of the year
15:00which means that the sun is going to set at around 11 00 pm and the sun will rise about 3 30 a.m which is only about four hours of darkness wild went on an adventure to go to dinner we're going to take the bus and it's like three euro per ride to take any transportation so we asked what a 24 hour pass was and it was 8.50 a piece which is a great deal so if you're gonna take more than three rides in 24 hours get the 24 hour pass and you'll be better off it's a colorful day ticket and we bought them from the grocery store below our hostel that's amazing because sometimes it's very difficult to find where you buy the tickets you can't always buy them at every single stock it's like the major ones or a new stand but a grocery store i never would have guessed it and you can't always buy them on the bus so you have to have your ticket before boarding yes so this grocery store really helps us out
16:00we were on our way to dinner and got distracted look at this building as far as uh plazas go that's a pretty good one on to dinner but no promises what a beautiful city but i think i'm most entertained by the names of streets and things they're like a million letters long and who knows how to pronounce them we're in a restaurant called the seahorse and unfortunately the first thing we saw was no cameras so we're going to try to do this on the down low if you're looking at the menu and speaking with the locals at the sauna we are still going to get the reindeer but we're also going to get the fried baltic herring with potatoes this is the frying area
17:00tail first looks like a sardine i like this much better than a sardine doesn't have the same texture this is very good that looks amazing it came with beets and mashed potatoes if you look in the center of this the meat is really dark it's not red it's like a deep purple we ordered a medium rare because that's what our waiter said that we should let's go for it i'm so excited it kind of melts in your mouth you just took the best point give it does have a little bit of gaminess to it it does not taste like beef but it's not like a really lean meat that's what i expected very interesting all right all right nathan was talking about the
18:00reindeer being just a little gamey not at all it was so tender not the most like flavorful like a steak might sometimes be but it was still very very good i was pleasantly surprised i was pleasantly surprised the fish was really good normally the little tiny fried fish are not my favorite but those were very good i would actually order those again what was the total 66.40 not great but kind of better than we expected cheap reindeer is not good and good reindeer is not cheap so you're gonna be expected to pay that much and i think we had tenderloin which is the filet mignon cut so we got a good piece of reindeer and it was cooked well all right time to make our way home we got some snacks to survive in the morning we started today in venice we got to
