04:00felt um and from a young age I had to felt um and from a young age I had to learn to be vulnerable learn to be vulnerable learn to be vulnerable um when I was diagnosed with Tourette's um when I was diagnosed with Tourette's um when I was diagnosed with Tourette's because it was you know I would have because it was you know I would have because it was you know I would have ticks and stuff and ticks and stuff and ticks and stuff and um and I needed to tell people what it um and I needed to tell people what it um and I needed to tell people what it was because if I didn't it just always was because if I didn't it just always was because if I didn't it just always made the situation a lot worse with made the situation a lot worse with made the situation a lot worse with peers right because people didn't know peers right because people didn't know peers right because people didn't know what it was they laughed they made fun what it was they laughed they made fun what it was they laughed they made fun or they would continue to ask right and or they would continue to ask right and or they would continue to ask right and I didn't have a way to communicate it or I didn't have a way to communicate it or I didn't have a way to communicate it or to explain it to people and so so I to explain it to people and so so I to explain it to people and so so I think from Pretty Young on from about think from Pretty Young on from about think from Pretty Young on from about nine ten years old I I needed to nine ten years old I I needed to nine ten years old I I needed to tell people what I was dealing with tell people what I was dealing with tell people what I was dealing with which which was a a form of which which was a a form of which which was a a form of vulnerability vulnerability vulnerability and and and and I think very early on I saw how that and I think very early on I saw how that and I think very early on I saw how that was helpful was helpful was helpful um and how that um and how that um and how that you know made things easier for me and you know made things easier for me and you know made things easier for me and so I think I kind of adopted that mind so I think I kind of adopted that mind so I think I kind of adopted that mind State State State um pretty early on and I and I see um pretty early on and I and I see um pretty early on and I and I see vulnerability as a
05:00vulnerability as a vulnerability as a as a superpower and I see it as a as a as a superpower and I see it as a as a as a superpower and I see it as a as a strength because you're able to really communicate you're able to really communicate and empathize with others and empathize with others and empathize with others um um and say how you feel and I think all too and say how you feel and I think all too and say how you feel and I think all too often we're just silent about it often we're just silent about it often we're just silent about it and it's interpreted as we're okay and it's interpreted as we're okay and it's interpreted as we're okay um um the silence isn't always the silence isn't always the silence isn't always you're okay right hardly ever you're okay right hardly ever you're okay right hardly ever yeah absolutely man and to see your yeah absolutely man and to see your yeah absolutely man and to see your vulnerability on vulnerability on vulnerability on on social media right sharing your story on social media right sharing your story on social media right sharing your story sharing sharing sharing like you said that the fact that you like you said that the fact that you like you said that the fact that you were that you were diagnosed with with were that you were diagnosed with with were that you were diagnosed with with Tourette's and you know other other Tourette's and you know other other Tourette's and you know other other things growing up and just sharing how things growing up and just sharing how things growing up and just sharing how how the cold and how opening up about how the cold and how opening up about how the cold and how opening up about you know your emotions your experiences you know your emotions your experiences you know your emotions your experiences I'm sure I've helped so many people what I'm sure I've helped so many people what I'm sure I've helped so many people what has that been like kind of being has that been like kind of being has that been like kind of being vulnerable on a on a public platform and
06:00vulnerable on a on a public platform and vulnerable on a on a public platform and have there been particular stories where have there been particular stories where have there been particular stories where people have reached out saying that your people have reached out saying that your people have reached out saying that your vulnerability has helped them yeah um I think probably the most yeah um I think probably the most um the most meaningful to me um the most meaningful to me um the most meaningful to me has been has been has been there there have been there there have been there there have been a lot of parents who have reached out a lot of parents who have reached out a lot of parents who have reached out and and said hey my you know my son or and and said hey my you know my son or and and said hey my you know my son or my daughter was just diagnosed within my daughter was just diagnosed within my daughter was just diagnosed within the last year we're struggling to the last year we're struggling to the last year we're struggling to understand how to understand how to understand how to how to cope how to how to cope how to how to cope how to how to teach them to how to teach them to how to teach them to um to go on like like day to day and and um to go on like like day to day and and um to go on like like day to day and and how to how to deal with their disorder how to how to deal with their disorder how to how to deal with their disorder with their Tourette's and we just we with their Tourette's and we just we with their Tourette's and we just we love what you're doing and we want to love what you're doing and we want to love what you're doing and we want to ask you some questions and ask you some questions and ask you some questions and and that has been of of all the things and that has been of of all the things and that has been of of all the things that I've seen from you know the six that I've seen from you know the six that I've seen from you know the six seven months that I've that I've had the seven months that I've that I've had the seven months that I've that I've had the the Instagram page the Instagram page the Instagram page that's been the most powerful and I that's been the most powerful and I that's been the most powerful and I think the most meaningful to me is the
07:00think the most meaningful to me is the think the most meaningful to me is the fact that I I I get to share fact that I I I get to share fact that I I I get to share my experience with Tourette's and what's my experience with Tourette's and what's my experience with Tourette's and what's helped me helped me helped me when I was a kid and the things that my when I was a kid and the things that my when I was a kid and the things that my mom instilled in me and and taught me mom instilled in me and and taught me mom instilled in me and and taught me and then be able to kind of help other and then be able to kind of help other and then be able to kind of help other parents to think about parents to think about parents to think about implementing some of those things as implementing some of those things as implementing some of those things as well and so that that's just been you well and so that that's just been you well and so that that's just been you know that's been the most meaningful to know that's been the most meaningful to know that's been the most meaningful to me I mean if if at the end of the day me I mean if if at the end of the day me I mean if if at the end of the day right I I didn't want to do this anymore right I I didn't want to do this anymore right I I didn't want to do this anymore and I wanted to just close the account and I wanted to just close the account and I wanted to just close the account and and um and never do it again that um and never do it again that um and never do it again that that that's that's success to me you that that's that's success to me you that that's that's success to me you know know know definitely man so what are some things definitely man so what are some things definitely man so what are some things that you tell those parents that that that you tell those parents that that that you tell those parents that that helped you as a kid kind of dealing with helped you as a kid kind of dealing with helped you as a kid kind of dealing with not only Tourette's but you were not only Tourette's but you were not only Tourette's but you were diagnosed with OCD and anxiety as well diagnosed with OCD and anxiety as well diagnosed with OCD and anxiety as well right right right yeah so anxiety yeah so anxiety yeah so anxiety um so I think if the neurologist it was um so I think if the neurologist it was um so I think if the neurologist it was generalizing anxiety disorder and then generalizing anxiety disorder and then generalizing anxiety disorder and then um OCD and Tourette Syndrome at at nine um OCD and Tourette Syndrome at at nine um OCD and Tourette Syndrome at at nine years old
08:00years old years old um and so so pretty early on I had a um and so so pretty early on I had a um and so so pretty early on I had a neurologist and and you know met with neurologist and and you know met with neurologist and and you know met with them regularly but the things that I them regularly but the things that I them regularly but the things that I would share would share would share with you know with some of the parents with you know with some of the parents with you know with some of the parents and some of the people that would reach and some of the people that would reach and some of the people that would reach out like if they were struggling out like if they were struggling out like if they were struggling um um specifically with Tourette's specifically with Tourette's specifically with Tourette's there's and and this this doesn't this there's and and this this doesn't this there's and and this this doesn't this applies to Beyond just people with applies to Beyond just people with applies to Beyond just people with Tourette's Tourette's Tourette's there are there are there are there are things that you do day to day there are things that you do day to day there are things that you do day to day or experience day to day that affect or experience day to day that affect or experience day to day that affect your ticks and the severity of your text your ticks and the severity of your text your ticks and the severity of your text and how and how and how um um how how much they bother you or how how how much they bother you or how how how much they bother you or how frequent they are and some of those frequent they are and some of those frequent they are and some of those things are things are things are for me at least and what they were and for me at least and what they were and for me at least and what they were and still are still are still are um caffeine um caffeine um caffeine caffeine and not the caffeine's bad but caffeine and not the caffeine's bad but caffeine and not the caffeine's bad but too much caffeine for instance too much caffeine for instance too much caffeine for instance um not getting enough sleep um not getting enough sleep um not getting enough sleep playing too many video games
09:00playing too many video games playing too many video games um being um being um being out of my normal routine such as out of my normal routine such as out of my normal routine such as traveling traveling traveling you know not sleeping in my bed those you know not sleeping in my bed those you know not sleeping in my bed those types of things holidays uh family types of things holidays uh family types of things holidays uh family gatherings all sorts of things that gatherings all sorts of things that gatherings all sorts of things that everyone experiences or or has had some everyone experiences or or has had some everyone experiences or or has had some type of experience with right type of experience with right type of experience with right um and so I would say hey pay attention um and so I would say hey pay attention um and so I would say hey pay attention to this kind of list of things and see to this kind of list of things and see to this kind of list of things and see how their ticks how their ticks how their ticks uh change when when they when you pay uh change when when they when you pay uh change when when they when you pay attention to those or when you when you attention to those or when you when you attention to those or when you when you take one of those things out or or take one of those things out or or take one of those things out or or Implement one of those things right and Implement one of those things right and Implement one of those things right and the reason I say this isn't just for the reason I say this isn't just for the reason I say this isn't just for people with Tourette's is because people with Tourette's is because people with Tourette's is because we we do this we do this on a daily we we do this we do this on a daily we we do this we do this on a daily basis we go hey I shouldn't have done basis we go hey I shouldn't have done basis we go hey I shouldn't have done this yesterday right this yesterday right this yesterday right um it affected me in this way um it affected me in this way um it affected me in this way or hey I need to start trying to or hey I need to start trying to or hey I need to start trying to implement this a little bit more because implement this a little bit more because implement this a little bit more because it improves my life this much and so it improves my life this much and so it improves my life this much and so having that self-awareness and that having that self-awareness and that having that self-awareness and that recognition I think early on
10:00recognition I think early on recognition I think early on um um I mean especially as a kid I mean especially as a kid I mean especially as a kid starting to develop that early on is so starting to develop that early on is so starting to develop that early on is so powerful right because you start to powerful right because you start to powerful right because you start to you start to understand what works what you start to understand what works what you start to understand what works what doesn't and then you get to try and help doesn't and then you get to try and help doesn't and then you get to try and help other people with it hopefully other people with it hopefully other people with it hopefully yeah and all the things you just yeah and all the things you just yeah and all the things you just mentioned too much caffeine not enough mentioned too much caffeine not enough mentioned too much caffeine not enough sleep sleep sleep holidays travel all that stuff it do you holidays travel all that stuff it do you holidays travel all that stuff it do you think that there's an association think that there's an association think that there's an association between ticks and anxiety because I feel between ticks and anxiety because I feel between ticks and anxiety because I feel like in my own life all those things like in my own life all those things like in my own life all those things just create a lot more anxiety for me just create a lot more anxiety for me just create a lot more anxiety for me which doesn't necessarily come out in which doesn't necessarily come out in which doesn't necessarily come out in ticks but definitely comes out in other ticks but definitely comes out in other ticks but definitely comes out in other ways in my life ways in my life ways in my life 100 and and that's how mine always was 100 and and that's how mine always was 100 and and that's how mine always was was the the anxiety was tied to the was the the anxiety was tied to the was the the anxiety was tied to the Tourette's and if I could figure out Tourette's and if I could figure out Tourette's and if I could figure out what what what what helped my anxiety or what made it what helped my anxiety or what made it what helped my anxiety or what made it worse than I knew how my tics were going worse than I knew how my tics were going worse than I knew how my tics were going to respond to right so very very to respond to right so very very to respond to right so very very correlated at least for me correlated at least for me correlated at least for me um I think there are there are cases um I think there are there are cases um I think there are there are cases people with Tourette's right where it's people with Tourette's right where it's people with Tourette's right where it's just
11:00just just maybe it's just not related whatsoever maybe it's just not related whatsoever maybe it's just not related whatsoever but but for me yeah it was so much uh but but for me yeah it was so much uh but but for me yeah it was so much uh had to do with the the anxiety and how I had to do with the the anxiety and how I had to do with the the anxiety and how I how I tried to treat that how I tried to treat that how I tried to treat that um um would my tics would then follow right or would my tics would then follow right or would my tics would then follow right or or they or they wouldn't or they or they wouldn't or they or they wouldn't so so so um yeah exactly um yeah exactly um yeah exactly so dealing with you know these these so dealing with you know these these so dealing with you know these these different mental health challenges is different mental health challenges is different mental health challenges is that what got you into cold therapy or that what got you into cold therapy or that what got you into cold therapy or kind of walk me through how you got into kind of walk me through how you got into kind of walk me through how you got into cold exposure and how that all started cold exposure and how that all started cold exposure and how that all started yeah a little bit of a different yeah a little bit of a different yeah a little bit of a different um um a little bit of a different journey I a little bit of a different journey I a little bit of a different journey I think so I think so I think so I I I ended up I I ended up I I ended up moving up to Boise Idaho moving up to Boise Idaho moving up to Boise Idaho um right in the middle of the pandemic um right in the middle of the pandemic um right in the middle of the pandemic so may 2020 so may 2020 so may 2020 um I'd finished grad school I I got a um I'd finished grad school I I got a um I'd finished grad school I I got a great job up here and at that time great job up here and at that time great job up here and at that time anybody getting a job was just you know
12:00anybody getting a job was just you know anybody getting a job was just you know it was difficult because everyone froze it was difficult because everyone froze it was difficult because everyone froze everything hiring was frozen austerity everything hiring was frozen austerity everything hiring was frozen austerity measures put in place like nobody was measures put in place like nobody was measures put in place like nobody was doing anything and so the fact that I doing anything and so the fact that I doing anything and so the fact that I was able to move up here and get that was able to move up here and get that was able to move up here and get that was was was um was huge but I you know I moved up um was huge but I you know I moved up um was huge but I you know I moved up here and I felt like all the things that here and I felt like all the things that here and I felt like all the things that I had accomplished or wanted to I had accomplished or wanted to I had accomplished or wanted to accomplish it was all of a sudden like accomplish it was all of a sudden like accomplish it was all of a sudden like boom you did it right here you are boom you did it right here you are boom you did it right here you are finished grad school you got this job finished grad school you got this job finished grad school you got this job you moved up here you moved up here you moved up here um but I got to the end of that road um but I got to the end of that road um but I got to the end of that road I was away from family I was away from family I was away from family um they lived in different states um they lived in different states um they lived in different states and and I just got hit with depression and and I just got hit with depression and and I just got hit with depression just blindsided me and I'd never dealt just blindsided me and I'd never dealt just blindsided me and I'd never dealt with with with depression in the past depression in the past depression in the past um and I didn't really know that that's um and I didn't really know that that's um and I didn't really know that that's what it was at first what it was at first what it was at first and and so I started going to therapy so I started going to therapy so I started going to therapy um um in 2020 in 2020 in 2020 and to try and treat and try and and to try and treat and try and and to try and treat and try and understand what was going on at the same understand what was going on at the same understand what was going on at the same time go ahead I'm not yeah just because
13:00time go ahead I'm not yeah just because time go ahead I'm not yeah just because I think so many of us deal with I think so many of us deal with I think so many of us deal with depression how did that depression how did that depression how did that what did it look like in the beginning what did it look like in the beginning what did it look like in the beginning and like and like and like I guess just how did it manifest in your I guess just how did it manifest in your I guess just how did it manifest in your life and that to the point where you're life and that to the point where you're life and that to the point where you're like like is this depression because he like like is this depression because he like like is this depression because he said at first you didn't necessarily said at first you didn't necessarily said at first you didn't necessarily know that that's what it was know that that's what it was know that that's what it was yeah because as a it's a good point as yeah because as a it's a good point as yeah because as a it's a good point as an outsider looking and like somebody an outsider looking and like somebody an outsider looking and like somebody when I say Outsider somebody who may when I say Outsider somebody who may when I say Outsider somebody who may have not experienced depression before have not experienced depression before have not experienced depression before from the outside I I saw it as something from the outside I I saw it as something from the outside I I saw it as something different than when I actually ended up different than when I actually ended up different than when I actually ended up feeling it feeling it feeling it and so that's why I didn't immediately and so that's why I didn't immediately and so that's why I didn't immediately say oh this is depression right because say oh this is depression right because say oh this is depression right because what you see is depression or what you what you see is depression or what you what you see is depression or what you hear is depression is is very different hear is depression is is very different hear is depression is is very different or can be very different to what you or can be very different to what you or can be very different to what you personally end up experiencing as personally end up experiencing as personally end up experiencing as depression depression depression um and I think that's why there's um and I think that's why there's um and I think that's why there's there's been us you know a stigma or at there's been us you know a stigma or at there's been us you know a stigma or at least a misunderstanding of what it least a misunderstanding of what it least a misunderstanding of what it really is and when I experienced it
14:00really is and when I experienced it really is and when I experienced it um um for me it manifested as for me it manifested as for me it manifested as physically as like just a paralysis physically as like just a paralysis physically as like just a paralysis where I didn't want to do anything I I where I didn't want to do anything I I where I didn't want to do anything I I didn't have the energy didn't have the energy didn't have the energy it wasn't it wasn't clear in my head it wasn't it wasn't clear in my head it wasn't it wasn't clear in my head what I should be doing um there didn't seem there didn't feel um there didn't seem there didn't feel like or seemed to be a purpose in doing like or seemed to be a purpose in doing like or seemed to be a purpose in doing it it it the purpose just wasn't there the purpose just wasn't there the purpose just wasn't there um I I started getting very I I started getting very um um what's the word what's the word what's the word existential I started getting very you existential I started getting very you existential I started getting very you know know um um like what are we doing like what are we doing like what are we doing right just a high level what are what right just a high level what are what right just a high level what are what are we what are we doing what is what is are we what are we doing what is what is are we what are we doing what is what is what is this place what is this place what is this place um where are we
15:00we're like we're like what's the point you know and I started what's the point you know and I started what's the point you know and I started kind of having these thoughts that would kind of having these thoughts that would kind of having these thoughts that would just just um um that would happen all the time like that that would happen all the time like that that would happen all the time like that just constantly and so just constantly and so just constantly and so that's how that's how I think it that's how that's how I think it that's how that's how I think it manifest manifested for me was just a manifest manifested for me was just a manifest manifested for me was just a lot of just felt heavy right it's just heavy just felt heavy right it's just heavy um no no motivation or kind of no clarity no no motivation or kind of no clarity as to as to as to what I should do or or even why and just feeling like there must be and just feeling like there must be something better somewhere else something better somewhere else something better somewhere else right yeah man I right yeah man I right yeah man I and that's I and that's I and that's I don't love asking that question but I don't love asking that question but I don't love asking that question but I think it's super helpful because I think think it's super helpful because I think think it's super helpful because I think depression can look like paralysis right

17:00I think the rock bottom I think the rock bottom for me is it's also kind of it's related for me is it's also kind of it's related for me is it's also kind of it's related to the cold stuff and I think that's why to the cold stuff and I think that's why to the cold stuff and I think that's why this all meant so much to me this all meant so much to me this all meant so much to me um and why I started the page was um and why I started the page was um and why I started the page was because because because you know I started going to therapy just you know I started going to therapy just you know I started going to therapy just more traditional therapy more traditional therapy more traditional therapy um did some EMDR type stuff too which is um did some EMDR type stuff too which is um did some EMDR type stuff too which is um you know a type of um you know a type of um you know a type of hypotherapy basically and hypotherapy basically and hypotherapy basically and I my rock bottom I think was you know I I my rock bottom I think was you know I I my rock bottom I think was you know I I'd been doing this I've been doing that I'd been doing this I've been doing that I'd been doing this I've been doing that for a few months and I started going for a few months and I started going for a few months and I started going into the river too because I live I live into the river too because I live I live into the river too because I live I live very close to the Boise River very close to the Boise River very close to the Boise River and you know it's it's a winter time and and you know it's it's a winter time and and you know it's it's a winter time and um Boise is not pretty in the winter um Boise is not pretty in the winter um Boise is not pretty in the winter like you don't you don't get a lot of like you don't you don't get a lot of like you don't you don't get a lot of snow snow snow um and you don't get a lot of sun either um and you don't get a lot of sun either um and you don't get a lot of sun either and it's just not a pretty place and it's just not a pretty place and it's just not a pretty place um most of the winter
18:00um most of the winter um most of the winter and and I I remember I I remember I I remember just being in the water and to me on the outside everything that I deal with day-to-day everything that I deal with day-to-day everything that I deal with day-to-day um all of my all of my personal struggles I can't think of any of that when I'm in I can't think of any of that when I'm in I can't think of any of that when I'm in the water the water the water because the water is 36 degrees my because the water is 36 degrees my because the water is 36 degrees my brain's just trying to survive I'm just brain's just trying to survive I'm just brain's just trying to survive I'm just trying to breathe trying to breathe trying to breathe um and there's no place um and there's no place um and there's no place for for for for that part of your brain or that that for that part of your brain or that that for that part of your brain or that that part of your mind to to think or to try
19:00part of your mind to to think or to try part of your mind to to think or to try and calculate stuff it you can't because and calculate stuff it you can't because and calculate stuff it you can't because you know I don't want to get too much you know I don't want to get too much you know I don't want to get too much into the science behind it but like you into the science behind it but like you into the science behind it but like you you lose between like 30 and 80 percent you lose between like 30 and 80 percent you lose between like 30 and 80 percent of just cognitive function and ability of just cognitive function and ability of just cognitive function and ability when when you hit that water if the when when you hit that water if the when when you hit that water if the water is you know that cold because your water is you know that cold because your water is you know that cold because your brain just goes it's fight or flight brain just goes it's fight or flight brain just goes it's fight or flight time I just need to survive time I just need to survive time I just need to survive and so and so and so some days in there I I was you know some days in there I I was you know some days in there I I was you know there was nothing for me to look forward there was nothing for me to look forward there was nothing for me to look forward to there was nothing I was to there was nothing I was to there was nothing I was um um I was excited about I couldn't feel any I was excited about I couldn't feel any I was excited about I couldn't feel any emotions emotions emotions and but when I was in the water and but when I was in the water and but when I was in the water it you know it you know it you know it was okay not to feel anything right it was okay not to feel anything right it was okay not to feel anything right that's that's just it was this escape that's that's just it was this escape that's that's just it was this escape and it was like I'm just gonna stay in and it was like I'm just gonna stay in and it was like I'm just gonna stay in here as long as I can and so I mean some here as long as I can and so I mean some here as long as I can and so I mean some and I don't recommend doing this because and I don't recommend doing this because and I don't recommend doing this because obviously there is a safety hazard obviously there is a safety hazard obviously there is a safety hazard behind that and and I and I want people behind that and and I and I want people behind that and and I and I want people to be safe to be safe to be safe um um but there were days where you know it
20:00but there were days where you know it but there were days where you know it was the water is 36 37 38 degrees was the water is 36 37 38 degrees was the water is 36 37 38 degrees Fahrenheit and and I'd I'd stay in there Fahrenheit and and I'd I'd stay in there Fahrenheit and and I'd I'd stay in there 14 15 16 17 minutes wow um until my 14 15 16 17 minutes wow um until my 14 15 16 17 minutes wow um until my vision would would kind of start to vision would would kind of start to vision would would kind of start to close in right and and it would be hard close in right and and it would be hard close in right and and it would be hard for me to control my eyes and I'd get for me to control my eyes and I'd get for me to control my eyes and I'd get tired tired tired um and which are all classic signs of um and which are all classic signs of um and which are all classic signs of hypothermia right but I would fight off hypothermia right but I would fight off hypothermia right but I would fight off the Shivering for so long because I the Shivering for so long because I the Shivering for so long because I would I would I would try and would I would I would try and would I would I would try and incorporate incorporate incorporate um some breath work or like some um some breath work or like some um some breath work or like some you know just some breathing strategies you know just some breathing strategies you know just some breathing strategies and and stuff like that but um I would and and stuff like that but um I would and and stuff like that but um I would just push you know because it was like just push you know because it was like just push you know because it was like when I'm in here when I'm in here when I'm in here this is it and and and I don't have to this is it and and and I don't have to this is it and and and I don't have to think about any of the any of the stuff think about any of the any of the stuff think about any of the any of the stuff going on at the outside uh in on the going on at the outside uh in on the going on at the outside uh in on the outside and I outside and I outside and I um I can just be here and um I can just be here and um I can just be here and you know those were moments that were you know those were moments that were you know those were moments that were that were scary and and looking back I that were scary and and looking back I that were scary and and looking back I think think think um

23:00was yeah it was just to see is how far I could go right it and that shouldn't be could go right it and that shouldn't be could go right it and that shouldn't be the goal the goal the goal um for people who are wanting to get um for people who are wanting to get um for people who are wanting to get into cold exposure that that shouldn't into cold exposure that that shouldn't into cold exposure that that shouldn't be the goal at all and and when people be the goal at all and and when people be the goal at all and and when people want to compete and stuff like that a want to compete and stuff like that a want to compete and stuff like that a lot of times I'm like hey I you know lot of times I'm like hey I you know lot of times I'm like hey I you know that's not the point but at that moment that's not the point but at that moment that's not the point but at that moment where I was uh last year where I was uh last year where I was uh last year for me that was the goal was just I'm for me that was the goal was just I'm for me that was the goal was just I'm gonna push and I'm gonna see how long I gonna push and I'm gonna see how long I gonna push and I'm gonna see how long I can go can go can go um um but what I didn't realize was at the but what I didn't realize was at the but what I didn't realize was at the same time and looking at some of the same time and looking at some of the same time and looking at some of the studies you know that um studies you know that um studies you know that um that have been done on on different that have been done on on different that have been done on on different groups of individuals who who have been groups of individuals who who have been groups of individuals who who have been put in cold water the the the dopamine increases it you know just the dopamine increases it you know just the dopamine increases it you know just the feel-good endorphins those increases the feel-good endorphins those increases the feel-good endorphins those increases that they would feel a lot of times were that they would feel a lot of times were that they would feel a lot of times were correlated with like correlated with like correlated with like how long they were in the water
24:00how long they were in the water how long they were in the water um to a certain extent right so so some um to a certain extent right so so some um to a certain extent right so so some groups of people that groups of people that groups of people that were in the were in cold water for were in the were in cold water for were in the were in cold water for just a few minutes would have just a few minutes would have just a few minutes would have x amount of x amount of x amount of of of endorphin level increase of of endorphin level increase of of endorphin level increase and then they would find that another and then they would find that another and then they would find that another group that they put in Frida longer group that they put in Frida longer group that they put in Frida longer would have 2X or another group that they would have 2X or another group that they would have 2X or another group that they put in even longer it was like they put in even longer it was like they put in even longer it was like they would experience even even more of these would experience even even more of these would experience even even more of these feelings and so I didn't I didn't feelings and so I didn't I didn't feelings and so I didn't I didn't realize at the time but like by me realize at the time but like by me realize at the time but like by me pushing myself right like really far pushing myself right like really far pushing myself right like really far um I would get out of the water and and um I would get out of the water and and um I would get out of the water and and for like the next two three hours for like the next two three hours for like the next two three hours um I felt incredible because it was like um I felt incredible because it was like um I felt incredible because it was like I I was accomplished I felt I felt like I I was accomplished I felt I felt like I I was accomplished I felt I felt like I I completed I tackled something that I I completed I tackled something that I I completed I tackled something that was you know near impossible was you know near impossible was you know near impossible um I proved something to myself I had um I proved something to myself I had um I proved something to myself I had done something productive just all these done something productive just all these done something productive just all these feelings that you know made my brain feelings that you know made my brain feelings that you know made my brain feel good and my body feel good feel good and my body feel good feel good and my body feel good um so the same time of me just wanting
25:00um so the same time of me just wanting um so the same time of me just wanting to to to do it just to escape the world and and do it just to escape the world and and do it just to escape the world and and just be there for as long as I could just be there for as long as I could just be there for as long as I could it had this other effect later in the it had this other effect later in the it had this other effect later in the hours afterwards where hours afterwards where hours afterwards where I just felt incredible and there was I just felt incredible and there was I just felt incredible and there was there was some science or some you know there was some science or some you know there was some science or some you know biology behind that right that I didn't biology behind that right that I didn't biology behind that right that I didn't really realize at the time but yeah so I don't know if that kind of yeah so I don't know if that kind of answers no it does it well first off answers no it does it well first off answers no it does it well first off no need to apologize for getting no need to apologize for getting no need to apologize for getting emotional I think emotional I think emotional I think I'm sure it's not easier for you to go I'm sure it's not easier for you to go I'm sure it's not easier for you to go back to that to that time and I thank back to that to that time and I thank back to that to that time and I thank you for doing that because someone you for doing that because someone you for doing that because someone listening listening listening is in that spot right now is in that spot right now is in that spot right now but I think we can both agree that for but I think we can both agree that for but I think we can both agree that for anyone listening that anyone listening that anyone listening that wants to take steps for their mental wants to take steps for their mental wants to take steps for their mental health wants to do things to health wants to do things to health wants to do things to to address the feelings that that you're

27:00that I did last year the but mostly because I'm now incorporating but mostly because I'm now incorporating but mostly because I'm now incorporating a lot of these things that help right a lot of these things that help right a lot of these things that help right that I wasn't incorporating last year so that I wasn't incorporating last year so that I wasn't incorporating last year so I you know I want to preface it by I you know I want to preface it by I you know I want to preface it by saying I am you know by no means cured saying I am you know by no means cured saying I am you know by no means cured of of what I was struggling with and I of of what I was struggling with and I of of what I was struggling with and I don't I don't see the cold as a cure don't I don't see the cold as a cure don't I don't see the cold as a cure right I see it as a as a useful tool right I see it as a as a useful tool right I see it as a as a useful tool for people to incorporate to start to for people to incorporate to start to for people to incorporate to start to help them understand their bodies help them understand their bodies help them understand their bodies um their capability and and um their capability and and um their capability and and you know and then to experience that and you know and then to experience that and you know and then to experience that and and the benefits behind it and the benefits behind it and the benefits behind it um um so pretty quickly to answer your question pretty quickly to answer your question like how you know how quickly or how like how you know how quickly or how like how you know how quickly or how soon did I start to see soon did I start to see soon did I start to see benefits benefits benefits um or Improvement um or Improvement um or Improvement pretty quickly right because because pretty quickly right because because pretty quickly right because because with the cold it's it's it's a with the cold it's it's it's a with the cold it's it's it's a it's a very it's a very it's a very very quick return and I almost want to
28:00very quick return and I almost want to very quick return and I almost want to say return on investment but this is my say return on investment but this is my say return on investment but this is my finance you know brain speaking but a finance you know brain speaking but a finance you know brain speaking but a very quick return for what you did or very quick return for what you did or very quick return for what you did or for what you accomplished for what you accomplished for what you accomplished um it's right when you get out of the um it's right when you get out of the um it's right when you get out of the water water and and but learning to incorporate that habit but learning to incorporate that habit but learning to incorporate that habit that takes time right and so if you can that takes time right and so if you can that takes time right and so if you can incorporate it as a as a good habit as incorporate it as a as a good habit as incorporate it as a as a good habit as something you're doing regularly something you're doing regularly something you're doing regularly um I think you can see you know benefits um I think you can see you know benefits um I think you can see you know benefits very quickly and and that's what I was very quickly and and that's what I was very quickly and and that's what I was experiencing experiencing with the therapy to answer your question with the therapy to answer your question with the therapy to answer your question about that part where where I was did I about that part where where I was did I about that part where where I was did I see anything kind of doing both at the see anything kind of doing both at the see anything kind of doing both at the same time a hundred percent same time a hundred percent same time a hundred percent um um and that's what was so cool I think and that's what was so cool I think and that's what was so cool I think about my experience was I was I was about my experience was I was I was about my experience was I was I was going to therapy uh twice a week I was going to therapy uh twice a week I was going to therapy uh twice a week I was seeing two different therapists I threw seeing two different therapists I threw seeing two different therapists I threw so much money at it because I was like so much money at it because I was like so much money at it because I was like you know what I don't even I don't know you know what I don't even I don't know you know what I don't even I don't know what's wrong and I'm just gonna go see what's wrong and I'm just gonna go see what's wrong and I'm just gonna go see people and it I'm gonna figure it out people and it I'm gonna figure it out people and it I'm gonna figure it out right and I was like I don't I don't right and I was like I don't I don't
29:00right and I was like I don't I don't care what it is I'm gonna blow through care what it is I'm gonna blow through care what it is I'm gonna blow through my deductible and and I need to figure my deductible and and I need to figure my deductible and and I need to figure it out it out it out um and um and um and so I was seeing two different therapists so I was seeing two different therapists so I was seeing two different therapists at one point at one point at one point um um and it was like twice a week and uh I and it was like twice a week and uh I and it was like twice a week and uh I would get done with an appointment would get done with an appointment would get done with an appointment and I would come back home and I'd go and I would come back home and I'd go and I would come back home and I'd go get in the water get in the water get in the water and I would do that all the time and and and I would do that all the time and and and I would do that all the time and and what I was learning at therapy what I was learning at therapy what I was learning at therapy was was a lot of the things I was experiencing a lot of the things I was experiencing a lot of the things I was experiencing or the feelings I was having the stress or the feelings I was having the stress or the feelings I was having the stress I had I had I had um I was framing it as a bad thing and I I was framing it as a bad thing and I was angry about it was angry about it was angry about it and and and I kept looking at it in a in a and I kept looking at it in a in a and I kept looking at it in a in a pessimistic light pessimistic light pessimistic light and so every time I tried to talk about and so every time I tried to talk about and so every time I tried to talk about it I was angry or I was mad or I was it I was angry or I was mad or I was it I was angry or I was mad or I was frustrated frustrated frustrated and so and so my therapist said you know every time my therapist said you know every time my therapist said you know every time you're talking about this stuff or even you're talking about this stuff or even you're talking about this stuff or even or even begin to talk about stress or or even begin to talk about stress or or even begin to talk about stress or anxiety or whatever it is you're anxiety or whatever it is you're anxiety or whatever it is you're experiencing you're you're angry you
30:00experiencing you're you're angry you experiencing you're you're angry you know and know and know and you know it's okay to have those you know it's okay to have those you know it's okay to have those feelings it's okay to experience that feelings it's okay to experience that feelings it's okay to experience that you need to experience those things and you need to experience those things and you need to experience those things and and your feelings are valid and so you and your feelings are valid and so you and your feelings are valid and so you know he would tell me that and then I know he would tell me that and then I know he would tell me that and then I would drive back home and I would start would drive back home and I would start would drive back home and I would start to go get into the water to go get into the water to go get into the water and I would go and I would go and I would go this is this is okay cold is okay you're this is this is okay cold is okay you're this is this is okay cold is okay you're gonna be okay gonna be okay gonna be okay um um it's a helpful tool it's a helpful tool it's a helpful tool it's temporary and so then I started it's temporary and so then I started it's temporary and so then I started bridging these two gaps between between bridging these two gaps between between bridging these two gaps between between stress and your anxiety and what you stress and your anxiety and what you stress and your anxiety and what you deal with on a daily basis and then the deal with on a daily basis and then the deal with on a daily basis and then the cold and how it was just cold and how it was just cold and how it was just you know the perfect example of how you you know the perfect example of how you you know the perfect example of how you can take can take can take a difficult situation or a a difficult a difficult situation or a a difficult a difficult situation or a a difficult symptom or whatever you're dealing with symptom or whatever you're dealing with symptom or whatever you're dealing with and start trying to learn how to reframe and start trying to learn how to reframe and start trying to learn how to reframe it as something that is helpful or it as something that is helpful or it as something that is helpful or something that can teach you something something that can teach you something something that can teach you something um and so the cold just became a teacher
31:00um and so the cold just became a teacher um and so the cold just became a teacher to me that to me that to me that um um you know pain or stress or or whatever you know pain or stress or or whatever you know pain or stress or or whatever emotion you're feeling is difficult but emotion you're feeling is difficult but emotion you're feeling is difficult but it's okay to be there and it it's it's okay to be there and it it's it's okay to be there and it it's temporary and it's there to to teach you temporary and it's there to to teach you temporary and it's there to to teach you something and you can work through it something and you can work through it something and you can work through it and so it was like and so it was like and so it was like those two things together right it just those two things together right it just those two things together right it just became this very uh powerful analogy for became this very uh powerful analogy for became this very uh powerful analogy for me me me um you know I ran with it what do you think you just touched on it what do you think you just touched on it but if you were to summarize but if you were to summarize but if you were to summarize the biggest lessons that the cold has the biggest lessons that the cold has the biggest lessons that the cold has taught you taught you taught you what would those lessons be biggest lessons I mean yeah yeah I think too often we
